With the theme “Our Power, Our Planet”, Earth Day 2026 underscores the need for focusing on collective action to adopt sustainable habits, reduce waste, and promote environmental education.
The Earth was made for all of us. 🌍🐾
When we protect our air, our forests, and our oceans, we aren’t just “saving the planet”; we are safeguarding all lives that call Earth their home.🙌
Every time a habitat is destroyed or a resource is polluted, it is the animals who pay the highest price. They endure the heat of a changing climate, the loss of their sanctuaries, and the toxicity of our waste.💔
To love the Earth is to protect the heartbeat of every living soul that walks, swims, or flies upon it.

🦷Did you know that puppy teething is almost identical to what babies go through? From the fussy moods to the “I-need-to-gnaw-on-everything” energy, our little furballs have it rough for a few months! If your pup is acting like a tiny land shark lately, don’t panic. They’re just trying to self-soothe! Hang in there. Stock up on durable toys and enjoy the puppy cuddles, even if they come with a few extra nibbles! The “shark phase” doesn’t last forever, but your bond will! 🐾✨

🥳Twenty years ago, a small group of people in Coimbatore, India decided that street animals deserved a better life. Today, we stand 20 years strong, not just as an organization, but as a global family.
36,000+ sterilizations 70,000+ vaccinations 4,000+ adoptions and a sanctuary for nearly 150 animals.
We aren’t just looking back at 20 years; we are looking forward to the next.

🐾In 2024, the HAS Sanctuary Hospital was inaugurated, a dedicated medical facility for animals in their care. In 2025, HAS launched Rabies Surveillance in Coimbatore and began vaccination drives with Mission Rabies.
Twenty years in, the work is bigger and more urgent than ever.

🏆✨Today, we honor the heart and soul of HAS. In 2019, our founder, Dr. Mini Vasudevan, was conferred with the Nari Shakti Puraskar, India’s highest civilian honor for women presented by the President of India.
This prestigious recognition is a testament to her unwavering courage, pioneering vision, and the profound compassion that serves as the foundation of everything HAS stands for today.

🐾In 2014, HAS launched the EveryLife Calendar, a yearly celebration of rescued animals and their stories.

🐾Back in 2013, HAS teamed up with WVS India to launch the very first mass rabies vaccination drive in Coimbatore. What started as a mission to protect our four-legged friends quickly became a movement to safeguard our entire community. ✨
Since then, HAS has successfully vaccinated 60,000+ animals against rabies. This isn’t just about animal welfare—it’s about public health and creating a safer world for everyone who calls Coimbatore home. 🏠❤️
What began as a local effort has grown into a city-wide mission to keep Coimbatore safe for everyone.

🐾For some animals, a rescue story doesn’t end with a release. When the streets are no longer a safe option, they need a forever home. In 2010, HAS built them exactly that.
The HAS Sanctuary began for animals who had healed but couldn’t return to their old lives.
The sanctuary offers a place for adoptions, both virtual and physical, giving a second chance to many animals.
✨Today, nearly 150 animals call our sanctuary their home. Every single one is there because donors like you agreed: their lives matter.

By 2007, HAS was already moving beyond the shelter walls and into the heart of the community. They launched theur first major adoption drives and started educational sessions in schools and neighborhoods across Coimbatore, planting the seeds of compassion in the next generation.
The impact was immediate. Just one year later, in 2008, the Animal Welfare Board of India officially recognized HAS as a legitimate force for animal welfare.
In just two short years, HAS evolved from a grassroots startup into a nationally recognized organization. This is what pure determination looks like.

✨In 2006, a dedicated group of individuals in Coimbatore, India, made a landmark decision: the street animals of their city deserved a better life. From that vision, the Humane Animal Society (HAS) was born—registered as an NGO and partnering with the Coimbatore Municipal Corporation to launch vital Animal Birth Control operations.
🐾Citizens for Animals was later established in 2019 to promote animal welfare primarily in India, with HAS as our primary beneficiary. Though our official registration came later, our hearts and efforts have been intertwined with HAS since those very first steps in 2006.
💛20 years later, the mission hasn’t changed. Only the scale has.
