Having worked for several international Christian relief organizations over the past ten years, Donald and Annie Farrell, the founders of Annie’s Resale for the World, traveled to a number of developing countries and had the opportunity to witness firsthand the personal pain and despair of people living in deep poverty. They also had the privilege of seeing the incredibly powerful work of local ch
urch and community leaders who are dedicated to lifting their communities out of deep poverty and bringing people and entire communities into a life of promise and hope. Our mission is to support these leaders in their noble and tireless efforts. We call these leaders our “Partners”. We share our donated goods, our cash gifts and our financial profits with them to help support their work of educating children, providing food, shelter and emergency relief to families, strengthening local churches and pastors and sharing the love of God in very practical ways. We know each of our Partners personally. We have visited their countries, walked beside them and witnessed firsthand their work in towns and villages throughout Haiti, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa. Our Partners were selected to receive our support because of the high level of integrity, trustworthiness, and commitment we see in their work around the world. Our Chicago Partner, known as New Moms Inc., has a proven history of successfully serving young at-risk single mothers through the city and surrounding areas. Our nonprofit shop combines our desire to help our Partners with Annie’s long-held passion for resale shopping. All items donated to us are carefully inspected and prepared for our sales floor. Our overall goal from a merchandising perspective is to present a clean, pleasant “boutique” shopping experience for our customers, with a consistent level of good quality items for sale - all at comparable resale prices. In addition, we carry beautifully handcrafted items from local artisans in our Partners’ home countries, whenever possible. We pass on 100% of the sale proceeds to the local artisans and keep only the Illinois sales tax to pay each month. The sale of these items in our shop adds much-needed income to their family budgets and helps to improve the quality of their lives on many levels. We also attract people who love to travel. Time and again, they donate to our store beautiful gifts purchased from artisans in countries they visited. Please visit us often – you never know what unique treasures you might find!
