For parents of children with disabilities, this is a question that nightmares are made of. Young adults who are severely physically challenged have very few appropriate options for daytime activities in an environment that addresses those physical needs and provides healthy viable stimulation and purpose in their lives. The founding parents of the PAL Program knew they would have to create a progr
am that addressed all these areas. Coupled up with Clearbrook, Community Alternatives, and Northwest Special Recreation they sat down at a conference table for two years to design an environment that would do just that. The result of all those meetings is the PAL Program
whose mission is to offer an array of opportunities supported by technology, therapies and community experiences that promote lifelong learning and social membership. The resulting program offers full day services five days per week, age appropriate and interest driven individual programming, appropriate staffing ratios, assistive technologies for communication, extended learning and leisure activities. Community based opportunities for volunteer experiences and recreational activities. Transportation within a reasonable distance from the program and on-site therapies as needed. PAL Program is unique and highly beneficial to its clients with who all have physical disabilities. There currently is not another program of this stature in our state. The PAL program relies heavily on fundraising and donations to meet the high cost of primarily staff and transportation to accomplish it's mission to integrate these young men and women into community activities and maintaining health and safety.
