Does Stonewall Manor have ghosts? Sure, but this is not one of them. These are our bee catchers from Sims, NC, on round two of trying to remove the bees from Stonewall's front porch. We originally thought they were in the column, but last week we found out they were in the cavity above the columns. The repair to the cutout of the column looks great. Today, they are braving the heat and entering through the attic. Hopefully, we can finish the job so the bees won’t interfere with the open houses and our planned History Day. By the way, CAJ was in the attic in 1942. Any guesses on who this might be?

Well, we've had some interesting developments over the summer. Honey Bees have invaded, and occupied, the top of one of the columns at Stonewall. We called numerous people to see if they could help, but to no avail. This included exterminators. Fortunately, I got in touch with Melissa McCloud, who has agreed to remove the hive, without loss of life, and transport them to her home. Removal will begin Sunday morning. Thanks to Mellisa, Kristen Jones and Brandon Jones for their help.

Stonewall Manor will have an Open House this Sunday (5/31), from 2-4. Admission is $7 per person.

No stockings were hung but there were lots of decorations done at Stonewall Manor over the weekend. The Nash Central AP US History, AP Seminar, AP Research and History Honors classes, along with the Rocky Mount Debuettes spent their Saturday morning decorating as if it was the 1840s. Open House will be Wednesday night (12/10) from 6:30-8:00 pm and Sunday (12/14) afternoon from 2:00-4:00 pm. Warm apple cider and cookies will be served. Admission is $7 per person.
