Week 1 of our beginner sewing class was filled to the brim with 20 students ages 7-16🧵

We learned all about the basics:
-The tools of the trade ✂️📏

-How to thread a hand needle and tie a knot

-How to stitch a few basic hand stitches and what they are used for

🪡Blanket Stitch

This week's project: Students will decorate a bookmark with the basic stitches they learned and bring them back to our next class to show off their skills.

"Greetings from the American Civil War Museum! We have a few events coming up that we wanted to share with you!

On Saturday, October 24th, our annual Fall Festival will be held at our Appomattox location. Dozens of vendors will set up on the front lawn of our Civil War era cabin to sell their autumn treats and goods while local bands play live music. Other fun things happening that day include:

-Hearth cooking by historical interpreters in the cabin
-Museum educators talking about our medical and common soldier experience programs
-Musket and cannon demonstrations
-Pumpkin painting
-Train rides by the Osborne Express
-Civil War crafts and children’s games

If you are interested in a scavenger hunt through the gallery or just a self-guided tour of the exhibits, the museum and gift shop are open for normal business hours. Admission is $10 per vehicle and gives you access to everything happening on site that day."

Homeschool Line Dance Update!!!

We will be switching to the punchcard system for this class so that no one has to worry about missing a session, waiting until the month restarts, etc…

Punch cards never expire and will be 5 Class Punchcards at a time- start whenever you’d like!
