🎓 What an incredible night at our College Readiness Workshop! 🎓

Last night, we welcomed a packed room of students and parents who came together to learn, connect, and take the next steps toward their college journeys!

We know the college admissions process can feel overwhelming, especially for first-generation college students and their families. That’s why our ThePlace2B program wanted to create a space where students could find guidance, ask questions, and feel more confident navigating the path to higher education.

Our amazing presenters shared valuable information on: - How to apply for FAFSA - Navigating the college application process - Preparing for and finding scholarship opportunities - Connecting with college alumni and local professionals to ask questions and gain insight from their experiences.

And, of course, we couldn’t forget the delicious food provided by COYA'S CAFE!

A HUGE thank-you to everyone who attended and helped make this event a success! We are especially grateful to our wonderful speakers, Daisy Ramirez from the Quad Cities Community Foundation, Ashley Allen, Leslie Moreno, and our two student guest speakers from Augustana College - Illinois for sharing their knowledge, experience, and encouragement with our students and families. 🧡

🚐 A big THANK YOU to - the Children's Charity of Iowa for the generous donation of a van to support our youth in our programs!

Thanks to Variety grant funding, this van will break down transportation barriers for our youth, getting them to the services, learning opportunities, and enrichment activities that help them thrive.

When young people can get where they need to go, doors open. Your gift is helping make that happen for students across the Quad Cities. We’re so grateful for your support and for believing in our youth! 🧡

Beyond the Violence: Real Talk, Real Impact 💜

Last night, our ThePlace2B teens joined us for a Week Without Violence workshop. Students got to listen to special guest speakers and participate in activities that talked about how violence and our choices affect everyone involved, the ripple effect of gun violence, and what makes healthy relationships.

We ended the night by enjoying a delicious meal from P*eWee's restaurant

Thank you to Miss Tammy, Marshall, David, C.R.E.W., our mentor Kiki, and P*e Wee’s for a meaningful night. Change starts with conversations like these.
