On display at Flower City Arts Center this June 5, from 6-9pm is "Roots Remember (Studio 912 Photography Club Exhibition)."

This fall, Flower City Arts Center welcomed seventeen students from four different RCSD schools into the Studio 912 High School Photo Club program. In addition to building digital portfolios, students used digital SLR cameras to create printed portfolios, from which two images were selected for inclusion in this exhibition.

Education is like gardening—planting seeds, nurturing growth, and watching ideas bloom. In this exhibition, we celebrate the students of the Studio 912 High School Photo Club, reflecting on the roots they have planted as young artists, the growth they have demonstrated, and the promise of their bright futures.

June 5's event at Ugly Duck Coffee from 5-7pm will be exhibiting "post//partum: Paintings & Beaded Embroidery by Adair Finucane"

From the artist:
"This art expresses my passion for bringing beauty into our world, and cultivating a self-love that radiates outward. I began making beaded embroidery after visiting Ubuhle Women: Beadwork and the Art of Independence exhibit at the MAG in the last week of my pregnancy. Beaded pieces are spells; they’re infused with a specific intention/desire.
Inspiration for abstract paintings comes from color combinations that I develop an obsession with (e.g., decades’ worth of peeling paint layers on a playground swing) and from intuitive linework that helps me process my thoughts and emotions without the need for words."
