Today would have been the 81st birthday of Marsha “Pay It No Mind” Johnson - Stonewall Riots hero, gay liberation leader, transgender housing advocate, and HIV/AIDS activist. Rochester LGBTQ+ Together remembers the life and legacy of this icon of the LGBTQIA2S+ community each and every day.

We honor her by advocating for marginalized and oppressed peoples; fighting for and protecting our TGNCNBI+ (Transgender, Gender non-conforming, Non-binary, Intersex and Gender-expansive) siblings, especially Black, Trans women; by caring for the unhoused; and continuing the work and fight for liberation, equal protections and equitable treatment for all.

No one is free until everyone is free!

HAPPENING TODAY: Join Rochester LGBTQ+ Together on 2nd and 4th Sundays monthly at ✨ Summer Start Time of 9:00am ✨ (to beat the heat!) for our Rainbow Hike Crew program to enjoy exercise, nature and socialization with community. Hikes typically last about two hours, but may run longer. Open to members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community and allies. 18+ only.

🌲🥾 About this Hike: Our August 23 location is Chimney Bluffs State Park in Wolcott, NY. Please note: there is a vehicle entrance fee of $5, which we can reimburse to you. We will meet in the parking lot and depart together at approximately 9:05-9:10am. Be sure to give yourself extra travel time, as this location is outside of Monroe County!

🗺️🅿️ Travel & Parking: We plan to meet in or nearby the parking lot off of Garner Rd. The address is 7700 Garner Rd. Wolcott, NY 14590 (Google Plus Code: 73JH+G6). This is the red pin on the map.

♿️🏔️ Accessibility & Difficulty: The trails have some hills and there is one tall staircase. This hike is rated as moderate difficulty level.

🚭🧢 Health & Safety: Smoking, va**ng, alcohol consumption and substance use are strictly prohibited while with our group. We love our fur friends, but they are prohibited on hikes with our group due to safety concerns for them and fellow attendees. Many of the parks also prohibit dogs. Weather appropriate clothing, footwear, apparel and rain/sun protection are strongly encouraged. Bring your own hydration too! We will have a first aid kit on hand, if needed.

⚠️✅ Liability Release: This program is an informal gathering of fellow hikers, nature lovers and community members. Each participant assumes personal responsibility for their safety and well-being and removes liability from the group.

HAPPENING TONIGHT: Join Rochester LGBTQ+ Together on 3rd Fridays monthly at RSROC Community Center (346 N. Goodman St.), 7:00pm for Sip & Social: Sober Game Night to enjoy games, socialization and fun with community.

🌈🎲 Board and card games, lights snacks and non-alcoholic beverage options provided. Open to members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community and allies. 18+ only. Free.

♿️ Accessibility: The parking lot is paved and sidewalk has a dip. The venue has two all-gender, accessible restrooms. This location is nearby numerous bus routes.

HAPPENING TONIGHT: Join Rochester LGBTQ+ Together on 3rd Thursdays monthly at 6:00pm for Sip & Social: Happy Hour at various bars, breweries, clubs, and pubs across Monroe County. Join us for community, socialization, and fun! 21+ only.

🌈🍸 This Month: Our August 20 location is Dice Versa at 280 E. Broad St. Rochester, NY. Find us seated inside and join us for beverages, community and fun! Both food and alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages are available for purchase at this venue. We will cover the cost of game play for everyone who joins us too!

HAPPENING TONIGHT: Join Rochester LGBTQ+ Together on 1st & 3rd Mondays monthly at 6:30pm for our Trans, Non-binary & Intersex+ Peer Support & Discussion Group, a discussion and socialization group for transgender, gender non-conforming, genderfluid, non-binary, intersex and gender expansive folx. 18+ only.
