SHE IS FERAL

So Dakota got out of her pen and well going through the trash took a dump in the Pantry.

My guess is Petal jumped down from her sleeping quarters or she went digging through the trash also. Jumped down and rolled in s**t.

If you are not well versed is unique curse words please do not try to bathe a feral on your own.

Tucker and I were able to bathe her and live to tell you all about it. But there was nothing easy about this mission.

My seizure cat is also covered. We felt safer to bathe the feral first.

I truly am not amused this morning.

Let's talk about God's timing shall we?

I knew when I started outreach there are going to be times I need to make decisions. Today was one of those.

Senior lady HAS to move into housing more suitable for her needs. She HAS to give up two of her four dogs. It's not fair as she truly loves and adores them. She takes amazing care of them. But on the other hand, thankfully she gets to keep two of them.

She walked from Tumwater to Franklin Street Harm Reduction to get the help she needs. I happen to be there today doing outreach. I was called in to ask about solutions.

I am the solution, because nothing else made sense. She couldn't afford the owner surrender fee at the shelter. She wasn't about to just leave them. But she desperately needs this housing. She might be moving as early as tomorrow. She can't lose this housing.

She needed an answer, a safe place for them today.

Meet Soot. He came home with me. An 8 years old mixed breed dog, neutered and I will be updating vaccines soon. Roughly thirty pounds and appears to be a couch hog. He barely barks. He has meet my dogs and is ok with them. One of my cats is beating him up. But he has ignored the cats for the most part. Rides in the car beautifully.

He will be available shortly, not today.

Soot's mom was completely devastated over this. I don't blame her. She has had the dog since he was a puppy. So there were a lot of tears today.

Tomorrow I go and pick up the second dog. Which I'm told is smaller than Soot.

I am thankful we can help Soot and his mom today. I am sharing this photo with her permission.

Ok guys. We are to the point we are drowning in kittens and we have to start saying no.

We can say yes to foster in place. Or yes if a foster opens up.

I'm not understanding why we are in this position? I'm running community runs, I'm running feral runs. Other rescues are running runs. We are fixing thousands of cats per year. Yet we probably have 250 kittens in rescue. The adults are stuck because everyone wants kittens. As kittens hit weight they are being fixed and up for adoption.

Spay and Neuter appointments are open. There is not one excuse for rescues to have kittens right now.

I desperately need you to fix your cat even if that means spay and abort.

I desperately need you to stop handing out free kittens. Free kittens make more free kittens.

I desperately need you to stop demanding a rescue to fix your cat and you fix your cat. You need to call the clinics, you need to drive. You need to be part of the solution.

Last night ended up being a double whammy of losses at the rescue.

I sent mom Queen and her son The Prince to a foster to rest for 2-3 weeks. Even though he was ready for a neuter. I wasn't feeling it. Mom was spayed as she was pregnant yet again so we took care of that for her.

Queen and her two boys came from hell. A Colony situation in Yakima. Where Mom was breed over and over. Babies born out of control and left unchecked to suffer and die off.

The other boy is in my ICU slowly recovering from the hell he went through.

I had no worries about Mom and Prince when I sent to foster. I just didn't want them in a kennel here for 2-3 weeks.

Foster called last night. She came home and the kitten was dead.

We can only assume genetics, possibly a heart condition that we didn't see. Foster reported he was fine the night before. Mom hasn't had vet care. Who knows how many litters she has had. How many of those kittens died?

Kills me to pull these babies out of hell to give them a chance at life and God takes them before they get that chance.

I am truly unsure how much more I can take right now.

For the love of God I am begging to Spay and Neuter your animals. This suffering needs to stop.
