HEY YOU GUUUUYS!!!

Dust off those treasure maps, gather your little adventurers, and prepare for a trip down memory lane! We're bringing a little 80s magic back to the big screen!

On Thursday, October 29th, join us at the Acme Theatre in Riverton for a special fundraising showing of the one, the only, THE GOONIES!

Parents, it's time to introduce the kiddos to the cinematic masterpiece that taught an entire generation about friendship, hidden treasure, questionable decision-making, and why you should probably never follow a suspicious map into an underground tunnel.

Whether you remember every word, still have a questionable Truffle Shuffle tucked away in your memory, or have a little Goonie experiencing the adventure for the very first time, it's a fantastic excuse for a family movie night!

CONSIDER THIS YOUR HALLOWEEN DRESS REHEARSAL!

Why wait until October 31st to show off those costumes? We're encouraging everyone to come dressed in their Halloween best!

Pirates, princesses, superheroes, spooky creatures, or whatever wonderfully ridiculous creation you've dreamed up! Your costume doesn't have to be Goonies-themed. We just want to see everyone getting into the Halloween spirit a couple of days early!

After all, why should Halloween only get one night of fun?

We'll also have candy and Goonies-themed stickers joining the festivities, because what's a pirate adventure without a little extra loot?

And this time, the treasure we're hunting is a little different. Every ticket helps support the animals in our care at Paws for Life!

Admission:
Adults: $15
Children 13 and under: $10

A PIRATE-SIZED THANK YOU TO ADAM BARRY!

We want to extend an enormous thank-you to Adam Barry for helping make this adventure possible!

Adam, you're an absolute treasure, and we didn't even need a map to find you! Your support means the world to us, and we cannot thank you enough.

So round up your crew, grab some popcorn, throw on those Halloween costumes, and prepare to relive the adventure that had an entire generation convinced there was pirate treasure hiding somewhere in their neighborhood.

Absolutely wonderful news for the state of WY! 🐾💛

https://www.facebook.com/share/1Hx2GziYfg/?mibextid=wwXIfr

Wyoming just became the sixth no-kill state in the country! 🧡

Getting there took local solutions and a lot of teamwork. Shelters, rescue groups, and community members worked together to save more pets, including vulnerable cats who needed specialized care.

It's a not only a huge milestone but also a reminder that lifesaving doesn’t stop here. Every adoption, foster home, volunteer and advocate helps move more of us toward a future where no healthy or treatable pet loses their life simply because they don’t have a safe place to call home. ➡️ https://bestfriends.org/who-we-are/media/wyoming-now-no-kill-state

MEET: RECYCLE
Also known as "The Angry Owl"🦉

If looks could kill, Recycle would have a rather impressive criminal record.

With his permanently suspicious expression, ears flattened against his head, and a hiss prepared for just about any occasion, Recycle has earned himself the affectionate nickname "The Angry Owl."

But here's the thing about our little owl. He's not actually angry. He's scared.

Recycle came to us feral, and the concept of trusting humans has been a rather difficult adjustment.

When Recycle feels overwhelmed, his first instinct is to make himself as small as possible. He'll crouch low, pin his ears tightly against his head, hiss, and look for somewhere to disappear. Sometimes that means retreating to his litter box, where he'll even curl up and sleep.

While these behaviors might look unusual or even unfriendly, they're actually telling us quite a bit.

Those flattened ears? Fear and uncertainty.

The hissing? His way of asking for space.

The cowering and hiding? An attempt to find somewhere he feels protected.

And when things become too overwhelming, Recycle's preferred solution is to leave the situation entirely, preferably at impressive speed.

Recycle is a flight risk, and that's something his future family will need to take seriously. A startled Recycle is a disappearing Recycle, so a secure indoor environment, careful attention to doors, and a quiet space of his own will be incredibly important.

Now, before you start wondering why we're introducing a cat whose hobbies apparently include hissing and hiding, we'd like to tell you about the other side of Recycle.

Because underneath that spectacular owl impression is a little cat with an incredible amount of potential.

We've spent countless hours working with Recycle, helping him understand that people aren't nearly as terrifying as he initially believed.

And slowly, we've started seeing those walls come down.

Recycle now allows us to pet him. He'll take treats directly from our hands, and he's even been getting comfortable being carried around in a little papoose while he observes the world from the safety of his human transportation service.

And perhaps our favorite development?

Our Angry Owl has started falling asleep while being carried.

For a cat who once viewed human interaction as a personal catastrophe, that's a pretty remarkable accomplishment.

But we want to be very clear about something.

Recycle is still learning. Moving into a new home will be a big change, and some of those fearful behaviors may become more noticeable again while he adjusts. He may spend his first days hiding. He may hiss when approached. He may not want to be touched, and he certainly isn't going to greet everyone at the door.

He'll need someone who understands that trust isn't something you can demand from an animal. It's something you earn, sometimes one tiny interaction at a time.

We're hoping to find Recycle a patient, understanding indoor home where he can continue building on the progress he's already made. We would love to see him become a confident house cat rather than be placed in a barn environment where that opportunity for continued socialization could be lost.

Recycle doesn't need someone to change him overnight. He needs someone willing to help him discover that he doesn't have to be afraid of everything.

We know there's a wonderful little cat hiding underneath those flattened ears. We've already had the privilege of meeting him.

Now we're hoping someone else will give him the chance to come out of his shell, too.

And who knows? Someday, The Angry Owl might finally retire from his position as Chief Inspector of Suspicious Human Activity.

Although we suspect he'll always have a few opinions. 🩶
