One year ago today, I lost my sweet prince. Max touched the lives of so many. We miss you Max 💙💙

Even towards the end Max is fighting. He could go at any minute. I'm staying right by his side. He's comfortable and ready I think. All of your kind words mean more to us then you will ever know. I'm a wreck but I'm staying strong for him right now and speaking soft I love yous to my sweet prince with gentle head scratches. Knowing he spent the last month seizure free makes my heart happy but I knew nearly a month ago that he wasn't the same. He's old. He has health conditions. He has been slowing down. Nothing "happened." I've never had strong faith (that's something I'm working on) , but I do think maybe it's just his time. I love you Max the Magnificent.

This is the MOST special, incredible, thoughtful, beautiful gift I've EVER recieved. I am so incredibly thankful to have such amazing people in my life that care about animals the way I do. I'm at a loss for words right now. I will treasure this for the rest of my life. I miss Max so very much, but I know my sweet prince is flying so high without any pain or discomfort. People think I saved Max, but in soooo many ways, he is the one who saved me. He also introduced me to sooooo many incredible people that care so deeply about abused and neglected animals. I'm forever in his debt. I cannot say thank you enough to everyone who helped me help Max. 😭😭😭😭 Thank you Susan, Shannon, Patricia, Angie, Bonnie, Carla, Cassandra, Cindy, Cynthia, Donna, Dorene, Katrina, Lisa, Matt, Michelle, Ms. Cindy, Oneta, and Teresa. ❤❤❤Love you all!!! People have asked how I'm holding up and the answer is.... I'm a wreck still. My eyes have been swollen almost shut for 2 days from all the tears. He wasn't just another bird or rescue to me. He was so incredibly special. Even being completely blind , extremely arthritic, and old, Max began trusting me within the first month into my care. He loved his head scratches so much. Some evenings I would lay on the floor with him for hours rubbing his neck. All the neck massages really helped his neck I think. This is the video of the first time he let me give him scratches 💛💙

Little by little I am beginning the process of getting Max's belongings picked up. It has literally taken me all day to get this far because it's so hard to look at his cage and toys. I have Max's blankets washed and gathered up. Today, the manager of our local animal shelter here offered her condolences and it gave me an idea.
I think Max would have wanted his blankets to go to the dogs and cats at the animal shelter. We have a big snow storm coming in, and they can always use them.
I hope those of you who donated them do not mind. I did wrap him in 2 of his favorite blankets to send him to the vet today also.

November 18th. That was the day we rescued Max from the hell that was his life. Now that I've experienced what turned out to be the last hours of his life, I know he was near dealth when we saved him. That tired look in his eyes. Max was so weak and his head was completely flopped over.
Almost 5 months. That's how long I was able to love him. Not even close to long enough. We all watched him transform before our eyes. A little love, proper care and nutrition, and many prayers can go so far. Please hug and love your feathered babies extra tight. I personally have 3 other birds and they knew something was wrong last night. All three, who are not quiet birds, were so quiet and not jealous of all the attention he recieved last night. They knew. Because birds FEEL emotions and love.
If you see or know of birds in a bad situation like Max was in before coming to CWA, please PLEASE DO SOMETHING. Max didn't chose to live this life this way. Be their voices. This was Max the day he came into my care. Eventhough 5 months is such a short time, I'm grateful for every second of it.
