Connection. Reflection. Growth. 🌟

Earlier this month, Preschool Promise partner site teachers participating in the PLC (Professional Learning Community) “Teaching with the Heart in Mind” shared their learning through engaging poster sessions focused on Conscious Discipline strategies, emotional regulation, and relationship-centered classroom practices.

These presentations highlighted the incredible work educators are doing to intentionally create calm, safe, and connected learning environments while continuing to grow in their own practice. We’re grateful to support our providers and teachers through meaningful professional learning opportunities that strengthen high-quality preschool and early childhood education across our community. 📚🍎

What does it mean to be an Empowerment Ambassador? Hear it straight from Black Girl Genius Ambassador Jordyn Freeman as she shares her “why” and what the program means to her.

We’re inviting those who have interest, to join us for Empowerment Ambassador Orientation on May 28 from 6–8 PM to learn more about both Black Girl Genius (BGG) and Black Boy Brilliance (BBB) and how they can get involved.

🌧️💛 It may have taken a rain date, but Passport to Kindergarten teachers, children, and families had a wonderful time celebrating the end of the school year with the Five Rivers MetroParks team!

Passport to Kindergarten, generously funded by PNC Grow Up Great Foundation, supports preschool teachers, young learners, and families through literacy-focused learning experiences both in and outside the classroom.

This year’s featured book, "Are Trees Alive?", sparked so much creativity and excitement in classrooms. A local naturalist, Doug Horvath, quickly became a classroom favorite by dressing as a tree, teaching songs about trees, and helping bring the story to life for children. One preschooler was so excited to win a tree costume raffle prize that they immediately ran to show Doug and proudly wore the costume home! 🌳

Thank you to Five Rivers MetroParks, Muse Machine, Boonshoft Museum of Discovery, Dayton Metro Library, and The Dayton Art Institute for helping make this another memorable and successful year!

From Dialogic Reading to Passport to Kindergarten (P2K), it has been incredible watching educators grow their confidence, creativity, and classroom impact.

Teachers shared how small group reading, open-ended questions, adaptive materials, hands-on activities, and family engagement are helping children become more engaged storytellers, communicators, and learners.

What started as learning new literacy strategies through Dialogic Reading has grown into meaningful classroom experiences that are strengthening connections between educators, children, and families alike. 📚✨

💙💚 What a beautiful evening of celebration and impact! 💜💚

Preschool Promise proudly hosted our 1st annual BBB/BGG Ambassadors Recognition Program, honoring the ambassadors, partner sites, and teachers who help bring this meaningful work into classrooms and communities, with appreciation for our event speakers who shared their voices and helped make the evening even more impactful.

From Black Boy Brilliance to the launch of Black Girl Genius, these programs continue to uplift, affirm, and support Black children through mentorship, representation, and connection.
