Every young Ohioan deserves a strong start in life and the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Today, I’m proud to announce that we’re launching 12 Regional Education Partnerships across Ohio!

These partnerships will bring together people and organizations already working in their communities to help children thrive. By sharing data and resources, these teams will expand their ability to identify and address the most urgent challenges facing young Ohioans as they progress from early childhood, through school, and into the workforce.

We're helping spread the word on the Youth Climate Innovation Challenge, launched by the City of Dayton Sustainability i-Team and Mayor Shenise Turner-Sloss's Office. This mini-grant program puts real resources — not just encouragement — behind youth ages 15–24 who live or attend school in the City of Dayton and have ideas for strengthening their community.

Access to opportunity shouldn't depend on who you know or what school you attend. This is a chance for young people across Dayton to be resourced as the leaders they already are.

Applications close Friday, October 2

Learn to Earn Dayton and Omega Community Development Corporation-CDC spent a great week learning with colleagues from across the country at the Impact Lab. Together, we are crafting a bold vision to ensure economic opportunity for more Dayton students and families.

With our local partners, we planned for the impact that would be possible with an investment right-sized to address the challenges of intergenerational poverty that too many of our Dayton families face.

It's the start of a new school year!

Students across Ohio are heading back to class this week — and every single day they show up matters. Research is clear: attendance starting on day one sets the tone for the whole year. Missing just two days a month can add up to falling behind.

So to every family getting kids out the door this week: thank you! Showing up is the first step, and it's a big one.
Here's to a year of great attendance, strong starts, and students who know their community is behind them. Welcome back, students!
