Another beautiful day at March Veterans Village, sharing a meal with our friends. Rotarians and family served up fried chicken, cole slaw, grapefruit, and fresh rolls, but it was more than just food. Carefully prepared designer cookies, tucked into golden boxes, brought a little extra joy—small touches that reminded each person they are seen, valued, and cared for.

Last night we celebrated with our Sunrise members Barbara and Steve Wallace. They received the volunteer of the year award from the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce! Congratulations to two fabulous members of our Rotary family!

This week, the shelves, refrigerator, and freezer at the pantry were looking far too empty.

At March Veterans Village, veterans who once lived on the streets—or who now live on fixed incomes—come to the pantry each Friday for fresh food and basic essentials.

You can help fill that gap. We are looking for business partners and community supporters who can help provide much-needed fresh items such as eggs, milk, cheese, bread, and produce. Do you know a business, organization, or generous neighbor who would be willing to help?

There was a whole lot of comfort and kindness served up for the veterans today. The menu included chicken and dumplings, salad, rolls, and homemade pineapple upside-down cake—made by special request for “General Patton” from the pantry. The chicken and dumplings were a big hit, with several veterans happily coming back for seconds. We also added water, sugar-free sodas, and jellybean-filled Easter eggs for a little Easter fun.

What made the day even more meaningful was the help of 6–7 members of the Poly High School Interact Club, who joined Sunrise Rotarians in serving the meal. Their willingness to spend part of their Spring Break Saturday helping others was such a beautiful example of compassion and service.

It was one of those simple, special afternoons filled with good food, generous hearts, and the reminder that small acts of kindness truly matter.
