Visit Ridgway CO

Visit Ridgway CO At the base of the San Juans-Ridgway is a hidden gem of history, arts, culture & adventure! Located at Hwys 550 and 62. ( Admission is always FREE ).

(This page is managed by a handful of community volunteers and is not managed by any one particular organization). Ridgway boasts ideal base-camp positioning in the very heart of Southwest Colorado – the Gateway to the San Juans ! Ridgway is located at the virtual apex of the San Juan Skyway – the most famous and scenic byway in America. Our wrap-around views are SPECTACULAR and Ridgway enjoys the

clearest night skies possibly in all of Colorado. Ridgway was the birthplace and headquarters of the Rio Grande Southern Railroad and is now the home of the Ridgway Railroad Museum. Railroading remains the # 1 hobby in America. Ridgway is also the home to Orvis Hot Springs. Orvis was the historic, sacred hot springs of the Ute Indians. It offers several pools, is “swimsuit optional”, very clean and beautifully landscaped. There are a number of other public, natural hot springs pools in the area as well. Just one mile south of Ridgway on Hwy. 550. Ridgway and its local mountains and valleys have been a favorite setting for Hollywood’s classic western movies. Many film sites, buildings, props and embellishment may still be seen in and around Ridgway. Among those movies filmed in the area were: “Tribute to a Bad Man” and “How the West Was Won” – in which the old RGS Railroad Depot (still standing in Ridgway) was transformed into the “Independence Hotel”. In 1968, Director Henry Hathaway turned Ridgway into Fort Smith, Arkansas for the filming of “True Grit”, starring John Wayne, Glen Campbell, Kim Darby,Robert Duvall & Dennis Hopper. Ridgway boasts the infamous Ridgway State Park and Reservoir – Colorado’s #1 favorite – with year-round camping; yurts available for rent; a swim beach and marina. Deer, elk and bald eagles in the tree tops are a common sight along the reservoir and the Uncompahgre River feeding into it. Entrance to the park is just 9 miles north of Ridgway on Hwy 550 and is disability accessible throughout. Come check us out!

🌄 Ridgway is ALIVE this June — and you're invited!

🎭The Sherbino's June lineup is stacked: free "acousti-soul" vibes from Coral Skye on First Friday, High Step Society, and a downtown-wide Fête de la Musique on June 21.
🕺 Did Somone Say Dancing?
• Free DJ Dance Party on the street + champagne & art inside. Yes, really. Free.
🌿 Get Outside & Moving
• Chase birds, sketch wildflowers & walk where John Wayne actually walked 🤠

Breaking news: Ridgway once again refuses to be boring. 🎉

This week’s lineup includes:
live rooftop music, gritty rock shows, Americana under the stars, free train rides, yoga in the park, archery lessons, art walks, karaoke, pickleball clinics, meditation, shaved ice, summer kickoff parties, and a walking tour dedicated to *True Grit*.

Somewhere between the Railroad Museum and the Sherbino, between First Friday art openings and open mic night at the Lotus, the town has fully shifted into summer mode.

You may leave the house intending to “run one errand” and return several hours later having:
• listened to live music
• run into twelve people you know
• signed up for something unexpected
• and somehow acquired a lemonade, concert tickets, and new weekend plans

No promises. That’s just how June works around here.

Ridgway’s live music calendar is absolutely showing off right now. 🎶✨

Over the next week and a half you can catch Donny Morales, Old Man Polly, Ridgway Wrecking Crew, Coral Skye, Flannel Feedback, Wowsers, GOLDPINE, and a full-blown Yawpers rock show at the Sherbino — plus jam nights, karaoke, trivia, and music bingo for those who prefer their entertainment slightly more chaotic.

In between all that?
Artist salons at the Decker. Yoga in the park. Community meditation. Butter churning at the Ranch History Museum. The Grad Parade downtown. Teen takeover night at Voyager. A giant library fun fest. Casual small-town magic everywhere you turn.

This is the season where “I’m just going out for one thing” becomes “why am I suddenly home at 11pm after three conversations, live music, and a side quest?”

Ridgway is entering its “there are somehow six things I want to do tonight” season. 🎶🎨🧈🎤✨

You could spend your evening wandering through fresh local artwork at the Decker, resetting your nervous system with meditation or yoga in the park, jumping into an open mic jam session, cheering wildly for the Class of 2026 on Clinton Street, or learning how to churn butter by hand like it’s 1892.

And yes — the Ridgway Farmers Market opens this FRIDAY, which means it’s officially the season of coffee in hand, tote bags over shoulders, and running into half the town before noon.

Honestly, this town contains multitudes.

There are also live shows, karaoke nights, creative salons, volunteer opportunities, game nights, Pilates, community gatherings, and plenty of chances to accidentally run into someone you know while “just stopping by for one thing.”

Tiny town. Extremely full calendar.

See the full lineup (because this is still somehow only a teaser) at OurayRidgwayEvents.com ✨

Ridgway’s weekend calendar is looking delightfully Ridgway. 🚂🐦🎸⚾🔥

Free train rides are back at the Ridgway Railroad Museum, there’s birdwatching, yoga, meditation, softball, volunteer opportunities, wildfire preparedness tips, and even a chance to safely shred old documents while supporting the Girl Scouts.

Feeling artsy? Check out some rock-and-roll-inspired art. Feeling sporty? Dust off your baseball mitt and loosen up that throwing arm. Feeling community-minded? Come help clean up the cemetery after those pesky mountain sheep knocked over some headstones again. 🐑💀

Plus: games and pints for a cause, neighbors gathering, and all the small-town charm that makes weekends in Ridgway feel special.
