(re)discover your own creativity with this hands-on artist talk and demonstration. Mark making without expectation or ego frees the latent artist in all of us. Join us in welcoming Julia Reid, local artist and co-creator of Chicago's celebrated "Around the Coyote" art festival. She will discuss her background, artwork, and lead us in an artmaking activity in the liberating fashion of "making your mark" with the ephemeral materials and style of T-BONE. The Big Box Show! Bigger, better and more. This groundbreaking local art won't last long! Ridgway's own T-Bone and his quintessential colorful cardboard paintings take on new life and meaning in the Decker where they have room to stretch out and really TALK to you! Come and be delighted by the playful T-Bone experience.

Stay to cool off, craft, co-work, hang out. or plan your own future exhibition or event in the space! The Decker is a unique community rental-art gallery hybrid, incubated and managed by the Town of Ridgway, in cooperation with our sister ARTSpace gallery next door.

The Gold Mountain Fire is taking a real toll on local businesses. Although Ridgway remains open and accessible, general uncertainty and changing travel conditions have reduced summer visitation at a time when many businesses depend on strong sales.

Wildflowers, reggae legends, rocks, and an Oscar-winning cowboy's ghost — here's a taste of what's brewing (extremely non-exhaustive).

Air quality note: smoke from the Gold Mountain Fire is clearing up nicely, skies look great, and events are on. Dust off the lawn chair and join us!

🌼 Wildflower walk up toward Black Bear Pass with Colorado Native Plant Masters. Wild mustangs roaming Spring Creek Basin (with a talk). Raptor talons & tails at Ridgway State Park — hawks, eagles, owls, oh my!

🎸 Ridgway Concert Series rolls on with Black Uhuru at Hartwell Park — free, all ages, bring a blanket. Open Mic jam session, Thirsty Thursday trivia/bingo, and karaoke at Steps Tavern if you want the mic.

🎭 Seussical hits the stage with a youth cast, AVID Dance brings a free workshop + performance at the Sherbino, and 610 Arts opens its Photography Invitational reception.

Ridgway residents: we welcome your feedback by July 20th.

Destination by Design, the Town of Ridgway's new destination marketing agency, has presented a Round 2 draft of Ridgway’s Community-Led Marketing Strategy to the Town of Ridgway. The strategy will help guide the next several years of marketing work, with a focus on thoughtful visitation, local character, stewardship, and support for Ridgway businesses.

The goal is not high-volume tourism. The goal is to encourage visitors who are already in or near Ridgway to look closer, stay longer, spend time in downtown Ridgway, support local businesses, consider mid-week stays, and return during shoulder-season periods when additional visitation is most beneficial.

The draft plan is nearly complete. Feedback from Town Council, along with this final round of community input, will be incorporated into the final version.
Residents are invited to review the draft plan and email comments to [email protected] by Monday, July 20th.

Need a cool place to land this week?

Come spend some time in the Decker Community Room, see the Silverton, Interpreted exhibit, and enjoy a little creative breathing room. Bring your laptop and work for a while, meet a friend, sketch, stitch, read, write, or bring along whatever art project is calling your name.

The Decker Room is open for community use during posted July hours, and everyone is welcome to stop in, cool off, and enjoy the art.

Decker Community Room Update

Due to wildfire impacts, the artists from Silverton were unable to travel to Ridgway to install the Silverton, Interpreted exhibition this week. As a result, the Decker Community Room will not have regular gallery hours until the exhibition is installed.

The exhibition opening has been rescheduled for Saturday, July 11, from 12:00–2:00 p.m.

We plan to resume regular gallery hours beginning Monday, July 13 (Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.).

Thank you for your understanding and for supporting our visiting Silverton artists.

First Friday is still happening this Friday, July 3, from 5–8 PM!

Despite the Gold Mountain Fire, downtown Ridgway remains open and ready to welcome you for an evening of art, music, food, and community. If you're looking for a great way to support local artists and businesses, this is it.

You’re invited to join us this Wednesday for the second “Creative Space” Artist Salon series at the Decker Room! Featuring an artist talk by Karen Keene Day, we get to enjoy her beautiful artwork in the space for the last days of her exhibition—as well as hear directly from her! Karen will talk about her evolution as an artist, and how she came to be a professional artist later in life! Karen will also give us an intimate look into her relationship with three mustangs from Spring Creek Basin.
We will have time to socialize afterward! Please feel very welcome to bring food and drink to share! All are welcome.
