Sometimes, when it rains, it pours. Today is one of those days.

The day began with a mama cat and her litter of kittens arriving in our care. Three of the babies appear healthy, but one is fighting an uphill battle from the very beginning. The one tiny kitten is only half the size of its siblings and was born without eyes.

As heartbreaking as that was, the day became even harder. One of our foster kittens suddenly crashed this morning, and we are currently at the emergency vet desperately hoping there is still a chance to save her.

These are the moments that people don’t always see. The reality of kitten season, the suffering of community cats, and the heartbreaking consequences of unfixed animals are very real. Every day, we witness animals born into difficult circumstances, struggling to survive through no fault of their own. And so much of it is preventable.

Please, if you have pets, spay and neuter them. If you care for community cats, please help get them fixed. One simple decision can prevent so much suffering.

This work takes a tremendous emotional toll on our fosters and volunteers. They open their homes and hearts to these animals, investing countless hours into their care. Too many times, we have had to hold tiny kittens and beloved community cats as they took their last breaths. Too many times, we have had to make the impossible decision to end suffering when there was nothing left that could be done.

The answer has always been, and will always be, SPAY AND NEUTER.

Our small team works tirelessly to create a better future for dogs and cats. We fight every day to reduce suffering, prevent unwanted litters, and give animals a chance at the lives they deserve. We are making a difference, little by little, but some days it feels like every step forward is met with several steps back.

Right now, we are in URGENT need of donations. Emergency visits, supplies, food, and further efforts add up quickly. If you are able, please consider donating. Your support allows us to continue fighting for the animals who have no voice and no one else to advocate for them.

It’s safe to say this big Tom wanted nothing to do with us 🤣

This is the “Return” part of TNR - when a community or feral cat is trapped it is taken to a veterinary clinic to be neutered, eartipped and vaccinated and then released back where it was trapped.

TNR is an important step in the management of outdoor cats, it prevents breeding, spreading of disease and illness and reduces the amount of kittens taking up shelter/rescue space.

This very large, very uninterested man was a TNR in Richmond, where we have seen a drastic reduction in kittens since starting our TNR program in 2025.

The dog has been returned.

This is going to be “not so nice” reminder and lesson for us and the dog owning community -

When we take time to put together events, apply for grant funding, take time off work and away from our families to offer FREE vet care to you, that does NOT include free dog sitting services when you fail to pick up your pet from the vet clinic at the agreed upon time.

We also have jobs, kids, lives, pets. Our partner clinic has to release these animals somewhere so they can continue to see other patients.

The level of disrespect when you assume someone else is going to take care of your pet and also leave NO working phone number or get ahold of someone to let them know what is going is astronomical.

Time, money and effort come from somewhere and it isn’t grown on trees or picked from thin air and now one of our volunteers is stuck with a dog when she should be already at work.

Be responsible, don’t take up appointment slots if you can’t fulfill the commitment and at the very least, give us a working phone number.

Hopefully this situation doesn’t stop us from being able to offer these services.

✂️🪽😇Our first 2026 Stand Up For Pits Foundation, Inc Spay & Neuter Angel Day was a success! Every pet owner showed up and had their pups ready! Thank you to Dr.Harris and the team at Ray County Animal Hospital for letting us take over the office for the second year in a row!

10 pit bull or pitbull type dogs were spayed/neutered thanks to funding from the SUFP Foundation, they were also vaccinated thanks to our supporters! All of this is at no cost to the pet owner.

📍 6 dogs from Hideaway Lakes
📍 1 dog from Richmond
📍 1 dog from Lexington
📍 1 dog from Higginsville
📍 1 dog from Norborne

Pitbull type dogs are the most euthanized, abandoned and neglected dogs in the US, the more we can spay/neuter, the less that are adding to the overpopulation of this misunderstood breed.

Stay tuned for applications for our next SUFP Angel Day in a couple months!

Last year, thanks to the generosity of Stand Up For Pits Foundation, Inc, Inc and in partnership with Ray County Animal Hospital and Dr. Harris, we were able to provide free spay/neuter services and vaccinations for 7 Pit Bulls and Pit mixes.

This year, we’re incredibly thankful to Stand Up For Pits Foundation, Inc for awarding us funding to host 3 free spay/neuter clinics, helping 10 Pit Bulls or Pit mixes at each event!

We are beyond grateful for this opportunity. Programs like this make a tremendous impact in our rural community, where there are far more animals in need than available homes.

Here’s the link to see the events they hosted across the country last year. We’re so proud to be part of creating positive change for these dogs. 🐾

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

Our favorite pups from Hideaway Lakes got a visit from Amy & Taylee to check up and see how they were doing after their spay/neuter appointments! To say they were happy to us is an understatement!

Continuing to build relationships, educate and provide outreach is a stepping stone and building block to our goal. 🧡💙🐶

If you have met our director, Amy Pearson, you know she is a rockstar. She selflessly dedicates so much time and energy to helping pets, stray animals and even sometimes a mouse or a pig.

Amy created Operation SNIP 'EM with the goal to reduce the suffering and neglect of our most loved companion animals through spay and neuter work and advocacy.

Although every single woman on this list is a true superhero that impact our community and the people in it, our vote is for Amy!

Please vote for any of these amazing women! ❤️
