🐾 BIRDIE & CLEMENTINE: A BOND THAT SEES WITH THE HEART 🐾
They say eyes are the windows to the soul, but for Birdie and Clementine, love is something you feel, hear, and purr through.
These two resilient little girls arrived at our rescue separately but both extremely sick. It took a lot of time, care, and medical resources to get them where they are today. While they may have lost their sight along the way, they never lost their sweet, brave spirits. Today, they are 100% healthy, thriving, and full of endless love to share for their next chapter! 💗
Their bond is truly extraordinary. They lean on each other (literally!), snuggle endlessly, and bring out the absolute best in one another. Because they rely so deeply on their friendship, we are requesting that they be adopted together as a bonded pair.
✨ SPECIAL ADOPTION DETAILS ✨
Thanks to a generous donors sponsorship toward their adoption fees, you can bring BOTH girls home for a total adoption fee of just $50!
Birdie & Clementine come to you:
✅ Spayed
✅ Vaccinated
✅ Dewormed
✅ Up-to-date on all flea/tick & heartworm preventions
✅ Fully healthy and ready for cuddles!
PLEASE SHARE THIS POST! 🔄
Even if you can’t adopt, sharing their story takes just one click and gives these sweet girls the chance to find the forever home they so deeply deserve. Plus, finding them a home allows us to open up space and resources to continue saving other animals in desperate need.
📩 Interested in giving Birdie & Clementine the loving home they've been waiting for? Fill out an application today!

🚨 AN IMPORTANT HEALTH ALERT FOR OUR COMMUNITY: Rabies is on the Rise! 🚨
You may have seen headlines about increased positive rabies tests in our area recently.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
☠️ Rabies is Fatal: This virus is nearly 100% fatal to unvaccinated pets and humans once symptoms appear. It must be taken seriously.
📍 It’s in Our Backyard (Missouri Data): While there isn’t a single real-time statewide counter, local reports show a significant increase this year:
Kansas City: 7 bats tested positive (a decade high for the area)!
Joplin: A skunk inside city limits tested positive after fighting a dog.
Greene County/Springfield: First skunk case confirmed this spring.
Howell County: Multiple confirmed cases, including skunks and a kitten.
Jefferson County: Confirmed rabid bat in High Ridge.
🐕 Your Pet is the Buffer: The single best way to protect your family is to vaccinate your pets (dogs AND cats)! Vaccines are:
✅ Safe & reliable
✅ Highly affordable
🚫 A pet overdue for a vaccine is a pet at risk. Vaccines must be kept current (every 1 or 3 years depending on state laws and the vaccine type).
🐈 How We’re Doing Our Part (TNR / TNVR):
Operation SNIP 'EM works every day to keep our community safe through Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR). TNR doesn't just humanely control community cat populations—it protects public health! Every community cat trapped through our program receives a rabies vaccination before return, creating a vital barrier against wildlife diseases.
While annual boosters aren't feasible for wild community cats, a single rabies vaccine given during a TNR/TNVR procedure provides strong biological immunity that lasts for multiple years—with studies showing protection lasting 3 to 7 years in a significant portion of cats. While legal guidelines require regular boosters for domestic household pets, every vaccinated community cat helps stop the spread of rabies in our neighborhoods!
🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Human Exposure is Serious: Post-exposure treatment (PEP) for humans requires a timely series of injections and can be expensive. Prevention is always the better path.
✋ How to Stay Safe:
NO "DISNEY PRINCESS" MOMENTS: Never handle sick, injured, or strange-behaving wildlife. Leave wildlife handling to trained professionals.
Report Suspicious Animals: If you see an animal (wild or domestic) acting uncharacteristically, contact your local Animal Control immediately.
Secure Your Home: Seal potential entry points for wildlife (especially bats) into your attic, chimney, or crawlspaces.
If you or your pet is bitten or scratched by a wild animal:
👤 HUMANS: Wash the wound thoroughly with soap and water immediately, and seek prompt medical attention.
🐾 PETS: Contact your veterinarian right away.
🔬 TESTING: If the wild animal is captured, Animal Control can coordinate testing with the local health department (note: rabies testing requires the animal to be humanely euthanized).
👇 Check your pet’s medical records right now! If they aren’t up to date on their Rabies vaccine, please schedule an appointment with your vet or visit a local low-cost clinic immediately.

🐾 Sending big love and healing vibes to Cocoa! 🐾
Cocoa is resting up after her spay, and we couldn't be happier for her! We first met Cocoa’s family back at the Tractor Supply Animal Days event on August 15th while they were rehoming another litter of puppies.
Since connecting with them, 3 out of the 4 adult dogs in their home have been sterilized through our voucher program and the last remaining pup (a sweet female pit bull) is scheduled to get fixed at our upcoming Angel Day event! No more unwanted litters, just happier, healthier pets. 🧡

Help us spread the word! Please SHARE and COMMENT on this post, tag anyone you know who needs this service so families across our entire service area know that help is available.
