Many of you already know the Hope And Love of the Laity Fund has fulfilled its mission! Carmel Hall is no longer just a dream – it is now a beautiful, functional building. With our mission complete, the charity was formally dissolved in June 2026.
A few final statistics:
• The Fund donated $679,998 towards the hall’s construction.
• 647 individuals and families from across the nation made one or more financial contributions.
This tremendous success was made possible by the generosity, hard work, and dedication of hundreds of people. While many deserve credit, the inspiration to create the Fund came from my parents, Frank S Feuerborn & Nancy S Feuerborn. Their example of faith, generosity, and service inspired me to find a way to make their dream of a new hall come true.
Success may be measured by dollars raised, but money alone didn’t build the new Hall. Many volunteers gave their time, talents, and energy over many years.
I’d like to recognize our Board of Directors. All but one of five members served from the Fund’s inception in 2018 until its completion. Their professionalism and expertise were invaluable. In addition to me, those Board members included:
George R. Block
Gary Livingston
Gayle Powelson
Christopher Rockers
I also want to thank our Officers, especially those who began serving in 2018:
Bernie Rockers
Kim Wuertz
Linda Michael Kipper
And those who served in Officer positions in later years:
Nancy Mader Hermreck
Margie Bunnel
Heather Feuerborn Ahlenstorf
Andrea Sobba
So many volunteers generously shared their time and talent. They:
• Sold raffle tickets
• Prepared & served food for dinners and events
• Collected AuBurn Pharmacy Caps
• Sold goods donated through the DC
• Worked the Square Fair & garage sales
• Organized a charity auction
• Created baskets for basket raffles
• Grew pumpkins & gourds
• Organized pitch & co****le tournaments
• And so much more…..
Without volunteers, none of this would have been possible. I can’t possibly list everyone, but these individuals immediately come to mind:
Glen Bures
Marikay Bures
Frank S Feuerborn & Nancy S Feuerborn
Nancy Mader Hermreck & her sisters
Donna Hermreck
Duane & Linda Michael Kipper
John & Rosalia Wolken Parker
Amy Pickert-Schooler
Bernie & Michelle Rockers
Kim Wuertz
When I founded this nonprofit in 2018, I had no idea whether anyone would be willing to serve as Board members or Officers, or how much we might ultimately accomplish. My original goal was to raise $30,000!
To everyone who donated, volunteered, served, encouraged, prayed, or supported this mission in any way – thank you.
