👀 Did you know that RVA is home to Tony Award-winning Broadway producers? 🎭 Our friends, spouses BK Fulton and Jackie Stone, were co-producers of THE OUTSIDERS, which won the Best Musical Tony in 2024, and is still running today. The New York Times reported that THE OUTSIDERS was the first Broadway show to be profitable since 2022! Fulton is a modern renaissance man, seasoned executive, and award-winning media entrepreneur. Stone is a pioneering law partner, corporate mentor, and civic leader. Guided by their beliefs in authentic expression, moral leadership, innovation, and high integrity, BK and Jackie have become prolific independent media entrepreneurs. Many came to know BK as a former President of Verizon, but following his retirement, he transitioned into media production and creative entrepreneurship. Since then, he has produced more than 20 films (most recently, W.E.B. Du Bois: Rebel with a Cause, featuring Viola Davis, Common, Courtney Vance and Jeffrey Wright), authored or contributed to 19 books, and helped produce four acclaimed Broadway shows, including The Piano Lesson, The Wiz and The Outsiders. Jackie co-founded Partnership for the Future to support local students while breaking racial and gender barriers in the legal field. Beyond entertainment, BK and Jackie are philanthropists committed to developing young entrepreneurs and expanding access to global leadership opportunities for emerging talent. How fortunate for all of us that they call Richmond home! 🌟

Today, we remember Adam Turck. Originally from Bucks County, PA, Adam made Richmond his home after studying theatre in Moscow and touring nationally with Olney Theatre’s National Players. A beloved member of the RVA theatre community, Adam appeared on stages across the region. He served on the Board of Directors of ATLAS Partnership. On Aug. 2, 2025, Adam intervened to protect a young woman in danger. He called the police and refused to leave her side. He was tragically shot and later died from his injuries. Adam donated his organs, giving eight people a second chance at life. The Adam Turck Theatre Artists’ Education Fund, a fund of the Community Foundation for a greater Richmond, has been established by his loved ones to support continuing education for theatre artists in the Richmond area, allowing RVA theatre professionals to pursue opportunities related to acting, singing, dancing, performance, stage combat, intimacy coordination, technical theatre skills, and other professional training. His legacy shines on. Click here to donate: https://tcfrichmond.fcsuite.com/erp/donate/create/fund?funit_id=11791

ATLAS Partnership unequivocally supports Swift Creek Mill Theatre Artistic Director Tom Width, who, throughout more than 50 years of service, has honored the vision and legacy of the Mill's founders while making his own indelible mark on the RVA theatre community as an actor, director, designer, builder, and artistic leader.

We are aware of rumors circulating that ATLAS is attempting to "take over" the Mill. Those claims are false. Prior to the Board's announcement that the Mill was facing possible closure, we offered support in the hope of helping to prevent this very outcome. This included ideas related to fundraising, capacity building, strategic planning, and co-producing options to help alleviate the financial burden. We clearly stated that we have no desire or intention to assume positions of leadership or take over operations of the Mill.

"Partnership" is in our name for a reason. We are not a traditional theatre company; rather, we exist to support and strengthen the rich theatre ecosystem of our region, helping to sustain important artistic legacies and assets for the future. Our extension of help to the Mill directly aligns with our mission and purpose.

We do not have full insight into the discussions and processes that led to this announcement by the Mill. Nevertheless, our offer to help still stands, and we feel strongly that the Mill's staff, including and especially Tom, must be respected and recognized for their extraordinary contributions in creating an irreplaceable cultural asset that is precious to all of us.
