MINISTER OF STATE HONORS BATWA WITH PRESTIGIOUS INVITATION 🕊️

The Minister of State for Tourism, Honorable Susan Nakawukyi invited the Batwa to participate in the World Tourism Day Celebration on Sept. 27 in Mbale. During her recent visit to Bwindi, she said, “I have never been so proud to be a Ugandan. Continue being proud Batwa. Don’t allow your culture to die out. As you get children, also make sure they know this culture. Let’s preserve it as much as we can.”

We agree wholeheartedly! Congratulations to our Batwa friends! đź’š

Welcome to the Kellermann Foundation’s first Transformation Tuesday!

Uezine Fabiah: From Survival to Self-reliance 🕊️

As a child, Uezine lacked access to primary education and healthcare. She married and became a mother of six children. Unfortunately, Uezine’s husband abandoned the family and she was left alone to face the challenge of providing for her children.

Uezine kept hope close to her heart. Two years ago, God opened the door to new possibilities when KF launched a pilot for its vocational program. Determined to build a better future for her children, Uezine enrolled as a vocational trainee. She mastered the art of making energy-saving charcoal stoves and attended maternal health workshops at Bwindi Community Hospital.

Today as a graduate from the vocational program, Uezine is seen as one of the most hardworking women in the region. She sells about 80 stoves a week! Beyond pottery, she raises a garden to provide food for her family and participates in a new savings collective to improve security for the future.

Uezine is living proof of what happens when determination meets opportunity. Her success is a reflection of your generosity in action.

Thanks, , for the great work and collaboration! Carson worked as an intern to make grant reporting processes more efficient. He also helped map the next phase of one of our education programs and created valuable materials for a village savings and loan program to be launched in Bwindi in a few months. Carson, your work this summer helps more than you know!

TODAY IS GIVING TUESDAY.

We celebrate the resiliency of the Batwa as they shed lives of abject poverty to build a community of hope and health in southwest Uganda! The Kellermann Foundation celebrates successes like Jonah and Elizabeth. With your support, more Batwa will pursue their own dreams and live healthy lives.
