On March 7, Dallas SWE hosted our annual Design Your World STEM conference and it was a day to remember.
Students spent the day tackling four hands-on engineering challenges: building robotic hands, designing flotation devices, stress-testing tower structures, and exploring the science of DNA. Every activity was led by industry professionals and engineering students who didn’t just teach, they showed up, stayed curious alongside the students, and made STEM feel real and accessible.
A heartfelt thank you to Vickery Meadow Youth Development Foundation for their generous partnership in making this event possible, and to our incredible activity leads, Isabel Wetegrove, Savitha Pinnepalli, Chenai Sukume, and Adeola Adediran, for bringing each challenge to life.
Events like this are a reminder that the next generation of engineers is already out there. We just have to give them the tools and the space to build.
