Tattnall County FFA and Young Farmers

The Canning Plant at Tattnall County High School will open on Monday, June 1st. We will run Monday through Thursday, 8:00am until 12:00pm each day. You must call in advance to make an appointment for our corn processing service. At least 2-3 days in advance as these spots fill up quickly. All others canning services don’t have to have an appointment but feel free to call for any questions. Our office number is 912-557-8999. Please leave a message if we do not answer, and we will return calls daily during our regular schedule. Hope to see you this summer and take advantage of your local canning facilities to have locally fresh produce in your pantry and freezer for months to come.

Last night, Tattnall County FFA attended the Area 4 FFA Banquet. Senior FFA member GraceAnn Manning was recognized as a Central Region Winner for her Proficiency Project in the Poultry Production category. Junior FFA member Erynia McCarty was recognized as a Central Region Winner for her Proficiency Project in the Agricultural Production category.

Congratulations to these outstanding ladies on their hard work and accomplishments! We are proud to have them represent Tattnall County FFA so well.

We had an incredible time at the 98th Georgia FFA Convention in Macon last week!

A huge congratulations to our outstanding students that were recognized on stage this year:

🐓 GraceAnn Manning placed in the Top 3 in the state for her Poultry Production Proficiency, and was also recognized for receiving a National FFA grant for her SAE project!
🥩Erynia McCarty place Top 3 in the state for her Agricultural Processing Proficiency!
⭐️Bentlee Sikes and GraceAnn Manning both earned their FFA State Degree this year!

We’re so proud of all of our students—not only for their achievements, but for representing our chapter the right way! They have all worked hard, had fun, and made lasting memories this year!

I want to start this post with a simple thank you. Thank you to everyone who showed up and supported our FFA plant sale. Our students have worked hard since getting ferns in the fall to all the greenhouse plants this spring. To see their hard work all come together and see the community appreciate the work they put into these plants is wonderful. For this ag teacher, it makes all the stressful days worth it!

Now for the numbers! This year we stretched our 27-year-old greenhouse (we think) to the max.

* 180 Ferns
* 110 Hanging Baskets
* 3,456 (96- 606 Tray) Bedding Plants
* 673 4-inch cups
Plus two trips to county farms to restock!

Our community has knocked it out of the park and left me with very few plants to sell. With that being said, I will be at the greenhouse until 3:30 tomorrow. Anything not sold, we will be donating to a local organization.

Thank you again for all your support. We can’t wait to do it again next year!

A big thank you to Nature's Choice for helping us secure a pallet of potting mix for our FFA Plant Sale! 🌱 The potting mix will be available for purchase at the sale. We appreciate your support of our students and program as they grow and learn through this experience.
