New Horizon Community Outreach Center (NHCOC) will provide before and after school programs including tutoring for children in reading, math, science, and language arts. NHCOC has trained educators that are driven to see our youth excel academically. Several Tattnall County High School youth with known academic success will provide peer tutoring and mentorship for younger students that need additi
onal assistance. In exchange they will receive needed volunteer hours for their college admissions, scholarships requirements, and civic organizations they are currently involved. NHCOC will have a computer lab that will be able to have up to 6 laptops, so that students access for research, skill building, and additional assistance in academics. NHCOC will provide basic computer classed for adults who want to become for proficient with computer skills. NHCOC will offer three (3 week) a summer day camp sessions for children ages 8-13 with sports, interactive games, team building, arts and crafts, leadership development, and social awareness. Lunch and snack will be provided daily and that is included in the price which you will find to be very affordable and **discounts will be given to families of 3+ children**. NHCOC will offer a dance class on Saturdays given by the dancers of Georgia Southern Dance Team. They will be rewarded by being able to perform the routine at Georgia Southern events. Our SENIOR CITIZENS BINGO during the week will allow seniors the much needed social interactions that keep them in the spirit of life. They will able to win door prizes and items that have been donated from other local businesses. At New Horizon we want our senior to know they are not forgotten. NHCOC will host several teen dances for all groups (Country, R&B, Gospel, and others), these events will be well supervised and rules will be enforced so that this privilege is not lost because of a few bad apples. Additional support from the Reidsville Police Department will be available. Young Men Pose 4 Success and Diamonds in the Rough are just a few mentoring projects that we will have in place to build our young boys and girls to get them prepared to be productive adults. We offer social events, outreach / group counseling, groups and guest speakers to come encourage and empower the youth. Our facility has the space (6,300 square feet) to rent for special events such as weddings, receptions, dinners, banquets, talent shows, family reunions, and so on. ADULT DATE NITE (for couples who want to go out and have a nice time playing the way we did when they were kids), WALKING THE CITY (A walking group that gets together and walks together to keep each other motivated), TODDLER PLAY DATE (When parents of small children can come once a month and we transform the dance hall into a play room with all kind of activities for children under the age of 5, while we let the parents socialize in a less stressful environment).
