🎉 STATE BOUND! 🎉

We are SO proud of our 2026 Tattnall County 4-H Senior Food Challenge Team, Shyanne Busbie and Kaitlyn Eason, for advancing to the State 4-H Food Challenge Contest!

For the competition, the team was given a set of mystery ingredients — ground beef, cheddar cheese, and pretzels — and challenged to think creatively and turn them into an original dish. Their delicious creation? Spaghetti with Cheddar-Stuffed Meatballs!

From mystery ingredients to a plate worthy of the state competition, Shyanne and Kaitlyn demonstrated creativity, teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and some great culinary skills! 👏

Congratulations, ladies! We are incredibly proud of you and can't wait to see you represent Tattnall County 4-H at STATE!

Way to go, Shyanne & Kaitlyn!

🐑🐐 LAMB & GOAT SHOW CLINIC! 🐐🐑

Want to sharpen your sheep or goat showmanship skills? Join us for a hands-on, small-group Lamb & Goat Show Clinic on August 28 from 6–8 p.m. at the Tattnall County High School Livestock Pavilion!

Our clinic speaker will be Mr. Tim Griffeth, Agriculture Educator at North Oconee High School, who will share tips and instruction on showmanship, animal care, and feeding.

Who should attend?
This clinic is open to area youth and adults! You do NOT have to own an animal to attend. If you're showing this fall, bring your lamb or goat so you can participate in the hands-on portion of the clinic.

This event is coordinated by Tattnall County Extension\4-H, Candler County Extension\4-H, and Evans County Extension\4-H. We also appreciate support form the Kiwanis Club of Statesboro who generously supports youth livestock projects in area counties throughout the year.

Do you love shopping, comparing products, and making smart choices? Then the Tattnall County 4-H Shopping Skills Competition Team may be the perfect opportunity for you!

4-H’ers will learn valuable consumer decision-making skills while having fun, making friends, and preparing for the Area Shopping Skills Competition on November 5th from 1–7 PM. The area contest will be held in Toombs County.

👥 Who can participate?
The team is open to 4th–12th graders. Senior-only practices are available for 9th–12th graders, while full team practices are open to everyone in 4th-12th grade.

📅 Practice Schedule
• August 19 & 26 — Senior Only, 3:30–4:45 PM
• September 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30 — Full Team, 3:30–4:45 PM
• October 14 — Full Team, 3:30–4:45 PM
• October 28 — Practice Contest, 3:30–7 PM

If you're planning to show market lambs or market goats this year, don't miss your opportunity to join the Georgia Club Lamb Association (GCLA) or the Georgia Club Goat Producers Association (GCGPA)!

State 4-H Congress results are in and we are excited to announce:

Walker Page placed 2nd in the State for the Fruits, Vegetables and Nuts category.

Jeremiah Ray placed 4th in the State for the General Recreation category.

State 4-H Congress is the state level competition for DPA (District Project Achievement). The state level competition is scored on resume, interview and speech presentation.

Walker & Jeremiah both had the high score in their category for the speech presentation portion, which is an outstanding feat at this level of competition.

It was a busy week of competitions, banquets, tours, and making new friends. Mrs. Rebekah Greene chaperoned the event this week.

If you know a young person interested in competing in DPA for the 2026-2027 school year, now is the time to have them start thinking about their project.

We will do signs ups for grades 4th-12th in September!!!
