Saturday, June 6 (9 AM-?): National Trails Day Cleanup. Join the fight against invasive species in Port Clinton! Our mission is to take step one in a multiyear plan to eradicate invasive knotweed by cutting down knotweed to prepare for fall treatments and future native plantings and help restore and protect our beautiful local ecosystems along the Appalachian Trail and Schuylkill River.

Meet at South Penn Street in Port Clinton at the AT; additional parking can be found at the Port Clinton Recreation Park on Schuylkill Street. You can register by email at [email protected]; be sure to include you cell phone number so that we can text you in case of a rain delay.

Be sure to wear long sleeves and long pants and closed-toe boots; bring along sturdy work gloves, water, and sunscreen. As far as tools are concerned, equipment will be provided.

This work trip will be coordinated by BMECC in an ATCCC partnership with the Schuylkill River Greenways, Berks/Schuylkill Penn State Master Watershed Stewards, and the Borough of Port Clinton.

No prior experience needed. Come ready to clear the path for native growth!

It’s that time of year! Spotted lanternfly nymphs have started hatching and although they’re tiny now, they can have a BIG impact later.

You know what to do – if you see them, squash them!
