Reading Food Pantry

We are so excited to see a Mini-Food Pantry, built by Bill Lockhart, of Reading Troop 702 as his Eagle Scout project, installed at the Reading Public Library! The Mini–Food Pantry will contain non-perishable, shelf-stable food items donated by community members. “The Mini–Food Pantry is there for people who need food when the Reading Food Pantry is closed,” says Mr. Lockhart. Joining another Mini-Food Pantry at The First Baptist Church at 45 Woburn Street, we hope other groups or individuals will consider building or hosting something similar around town, for our neighbors to access when our pantry is not open. Just a reminder that we are closed this week through Labor Day to neighbors, however we are open this Wednesday for donation drop-off from 4:30-6pm. We will reopen to neighbors on Tuesday, September 8th for week 1, last names A-J. See you soon!

Donating while grocery shopping is so easy! We have bins at both Stop & Shop and Market Basket near the registers where you can place your donations and our volunteers will pick them up and bring them to the Pantry.

We are open every Wednesday from 4:30 PM to 6 PM for donation drop-off. We are located at 6 Salem Street and our door is in the back parking lot of the Old South United Methodist Church.

Here is our September calendar. Please note that we are closed the first week to neighbors, however we will be open for donation drop-off on Wednesday, 9/2, from 4:30pm-6pm.

We are also closed on Monday, September 7th, in honor of Labor Day, but we are open on Tuesday, 9/8 for week 1, last names beginning A-J. See you soon!

The Barrows school planted a garden in the spring and they are sharing some of their harvest with us! We are so thankful to Rachel from the Barrows PTO for dropping off many bags of lettuce grown by the kids. Thank you to everyone involved!

Meredith has been saving her money and (with a contribution from her brother, Shea) collected a really impressive $365 to donate to the pantry! Meredith and Shea are repeat donors to the pantry and we love that they have thought of us again, thank you to both of them!
