Honor Flight Southland Chairman Bryan Horsman and Vice Chairman Brian Folks had the honor of making a floral presentation at the Japanese American Veteran Memorial service. At the Japanese American National War Memorial Court. At the service Bryan and Brian had a wonderful reunion with Mission 16 alumni John Masaki, Mission 18 alumni Kiyo Fukomoto and Mission 19 alumni Kenneth Hayashi.

HFS Medical Director Janet Hewson had the honor of introducing Mission 15 alumni Victor Real at the Elks Lodge Huntington Beach Sunset Remembrance Ceremony.

This Memorial Day, we pause as a nation to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country and, as President Abraham Lincoln so powerfully stated at Gettysburg, gave “the last full measure of devotion” to our nation and to the cause of liberty.

Their courage secured the freedoms we cherish today, and their sacrifice must never be forgotten.

Today marks the 81st anniversary of Allied victory in Europe, bringing an end to World War II on the continent.

At the World War II Memorial, stone and bronze honor the millions who served, remember those who never came home, and mark a turning point in the fight to restore freedom.

As the generation who lived this history grows smaller, places like this ensure their stories endure. We honor their courage, their service, and the sacrifice that made victory possible.
