A child’s future is shaped by the people who show up.

For 40 years, Children’s Fund has brought together nonprofits, businesses, public agencies and community members to help children across San Bernardino County access the support and opportunities they need to thrive.

Their partnership has helped create meaningful moments for children at Arrowhead Grove, from school supplies and holiday celebrations to emergency assistance and access to sports and enrichment opportunities.

For nearly six months, Robert lived in his car.

A Navy veteran and former electronics technician, Robert had spent years struggling with rising housing costs, unsafe living conditions and eventually homelessness.

Then he received news that would change his life…

He had been approved for an apartment at Villa Serena II.

Today, Robert has a safe, stable home in San Marcos. He can finally focus on what matters most —reconnecting with his children and building a brighter future.

“I’m so happy. It’s unthinkable that I was given this opportunity,” Robert said.

For Robert, an affordable home means more than having a place to live.

It means stability, dignity and the chance to begin again.

For 10 years, Mike lived on the streets.

Today, the U.S. Army veteran has a home at Veterans Park in Pomona, access to vital benefits and a community he calls family.

“This place to me is nothing less than a godsend,” Mike said.

“If it wasn’t for this place, I don’t know what I would have done. They saved me.”

When someone has a safe place to call home, they can survive.

When they have access to the support they need, they can thrive.

For Diana Chipres, connecting someone with a job is about more than filling a position.

It is about recognizing potential and understanding how the right opportunity can change a life.

Through Career Strategies’ partnership with CORE Academy, Diana and her team help graduates move from training into meaningful careers.

For one graduate, that opportunity led to a job in property management that also provided housing, giving her both a career and a place to call home.

“It’s more than just work. It’s more than just a job. It’s generational change,” Diana said.

We are proud to celebrate the grand opening of Pioneer Village alongside our partners at Linc Housing and the City of Glendale.

Together, we’ve created 340 affordable apartment homes for families, individuals and older adults, expanding housing opportunities for residents between 30% and 80% of the area median income.

The community includes 245 homes for families and individuals and 92 homes for seniors 62 and better.

Located near transit, parks, healthcare and everyday essentials, Pioneer Village creates opportunities for families and seniors to thrive in Glendale.

Families need homes that support their future.

We celebrated the grand opening of Villa Serena Phase II, transforming an aging apartment community into 148 affordable apartment homes in San Marcos designed for today’s families.

The redevelopment expanded family housing opportunities, including 47 three-bedroom apartments, helping address the growing need for affordable housing in North County San Diego.

Located near transit, shopping, healthcare and community resources, Villa Serena provides more than a place to live.

Through Hope through Housing, residents also have access to programs that support educational success, financial well-being and healthy living.

Thank you to the City of San Marcos, the County of San Diego and our community partners for helping bring this vision to life.

Together, we’re creating affordable housing opportunities that allow families to live, work and thrive in the communities they call home.

Affordable housing creates opportunity.

Supportive housing changes lives.

This week, we joined Prima Development, community leaders and project partners in El Monte to celebrate the groundbreaking of Esperanza Village, a new affordable housing community that will provide 202 apartment homes, including 102 homes for families and 100 homes for adults 62 and older.

Of those homes, 154 will be supportive housing apartments for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness and survivors of domestic violence.

The family community will include supportive housing for transitional-age youth.

We were also proud to celebrate the opening of the new Hilda L. Solis Community Park, a community asset that future Esperanza Village residents will enjoy alongside their neighbors.

Thank you to Prima Development and the many public and private partners helping bring this vision to life.

Together, we are creating housing opportunities that will strengthen the El Monte community for generations to come.
