Seeing so many friends and neighbors come together for our residents made the evening so special.

For a family settling into a new home or a young adult starting a new job, there is excitement, but there can also be uncertainty.

Having someone in your corner makes a difference.

That is what Never Alone means to us.

We walk alongside our residents, helping them move forward and celebrating with them along the way.

For the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA), housing is foundational to opportunity.

HACLA’s partnership with National CORE includes management of 33 of its 125+ properties and the transformation of Rancho San Pedro.

Rancho San Pedro is an aging coastal public housing community now undergoing a major phased redevelopment to bring homes up to a modern standard.

National CORE is nearing completion of Puerto San Pedro, the first offsite housing for the effort. It will provide nearby homes for residents in stages as renovation of the existing community moves forward, so families can remain connected to their neighborhood.

“We’re creating walkable communities, we’re creating job opportunities; we’re also creating a nice mix of housing so that families can choose to stay there for as long as they would like,” HACLA President and CEO Lourdes Castro Ramirez said .

What happens when the farmers market comes to you?

At Encanto Village in San Diego, fresh produce pulls right up to the neighborhood.

We stopped by to check out Project New Village’s People’s Produce Mobile Farmers Market and see what’s happening.

With grocery prices climbing, residents told us the market helps them save money while bringing fresh fruits and vegetables close to home.

For years, Gina and her mother shared a dream.

Gina would be the first person in their family to attend college.

When she received a scholarship from Hope through Housing, that dream felt a little closer.

Today, Gina is pursuing a double major at UC San Diego and is on track to graduate debt-free before continuing her journey toward medical school.

Behind every scholarship is a student working hard.

A parent cheering them on.

And a future that once felt out of reach.

Stories like Gina’s are why Building Bright Futures exists.

Because every child deserves the chance to dream big, and someone who believes in them along the way.

Strong communities need skilled workers.

Through CORE Academy, Hope through Housing provides hands-on training, mentorship and career support in property management, property maintenance, hospitality, social media marketing and broadcast studio operations.

This year, 154 residents across the Inland Empire, Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego County have participated in CORE Academy programs, preparing for careers in industries that continue to need qualified professionals.

Behind every graduate is someone who chose to invest in their future and had a community willing to walk alongside them.

That’s what Never Alone means to us.

When people have access to training, guidance and opportunity, they gain more than technical skills.

They gain confidence, direction and a pathway toward long-term financial stability.

At the same time, employers gain dedicated professionals and communities gain a stronger workforce.

Because workforce development isn’t just about filling jobs.

It’s about opening doors to possibility and helping people build futures they never thought possible.

For years, Gloria and Leon worked hard to provide for their three children.

They paid their bills, stretched every dollar and did everything they could to create a stable life for their family.

But like so many families living paycheck to paycheck, there was little room for the unexpected.

Through Hope through Housing’s Money Match program, they began setting aside money each month.

What started as a simple commitment grew into confidence and the belief that they could create a different future for their family.

Together, they saved nearly $5,000.

Then Leon’s car broke down, bringing the kind of unexpected expense that can send a family into crisis.

But this time was different.

Because Gloria and Leon had built a financial cushion, they were able to replace the vehicle and keep moving forward without losing the stability they had worked so hard to create.

“You want it, you save it, you do it,” Gloria said. “That’s what Hope through Housing has put me on the path to—saving because I am worth it.”

Because health doesn’t happen in isolation.

When one child gains confidence, one parent finds peace of mind or one senior receives the support they need, an entire family benefits.

And when families are healthier, neighborhoods grow stronger.

Imagine having to choose between feeding your children and paying for a room for the night.

For Joaquin and Cassandra, that choice was real.

After escaping an unsafe home, they moved between motels with their two young children.

When money ran short, Joaquin and Cassandra went without food so Isabella and Isaiah could eat.

They were doing everything they could to keep their children safe.

They needed a place to call home.

Affordable housing gave their family the stability to stop worrying about where they would sleep and start building a future together.

This October, An Evening of Hope: Never Alone will help more families find support when they need it most.
