July 19 - 25 is Black Maternal Mental Health Week and we’re honoring it by spotlighting the heart behind Diversity Uplifts, Inc. - our Founder & Executive Director, Dr. Sayida Peprah-Wilson, PsyD, PMH-C.
Dr. Sayida (DrSayida Uplifts) is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Full Spectrum Doula with over 15 years of experience in both the maternal and mental health fields. A nationally renowned speaker and consultant, Dr. Sayida is a subject matter expert on topics of perinatal mental health, transgenerational/historical trauma and resilience, implicit bias, cultural humility and cultural safety, bringing a deeply holistic and culturally grounded lens to her work.
Her career has spanned direct service in community-based, in-home, psychiatric hospital, and prison settings, as well as systemic change through policy advocacy and education, always centering the wellness of those most impacted by systemic inequity.
She currently serves on the SoCal Pregnancy-Associated Mortality Review Committee, the Perinatal Equity Initiative Committees of San Bernardino and Riverside County, and the DHCS Medi-Cal Doula Implementation Workgroup and Co-Design Team, among others.
As the Founder and Executive Director of Diversity Uplifts, Inc., Dr. Sayida is committed to improving the well-being of women, birthing people, children and families, while building cultural competence among the providers who serve them.
