“Leadership Triangle has helped me see my role at Armstrong McGuire & Associates as part of a much larger, interconnected ecosystem. Through relationships built across sectors, I have gained a deeper understanding of how different organizations approach challenges and where opportunities for alignment exist.”
- Nevin Daryani, 2023 Goodmon Fellow (Regional Program Graduate)

Nevin Daryani is the Senior Director of Operations at Armstrong McGuire & Associates. In our conversation with him, he described himself as “being a bridge between systems and people”. Nevin said “I naturally think in terms of structure and process, but I am equally driven by making sure those systems actually work for the teams using them.” Every day, Nevin acts as a bridge between national movements and local nonprofits, bringing hard earned insights to his work at Armstrong McGuire.

It’s going to be hard to miss the big orange tent inside The Flame tonight.

We’re so excited to welcome the podcast, In-kind Chaos, onsite as our Media Sponsor. They’ll be collecting stories from The Flame’s attendees - yes, from the inside of a big orange tent within Dix Park Chapel.

Here’s How It Works: Do you have a story that’s too wild to share in public? Step inside the tent to record your story anonymously, and Ashlea Hitchcock-Francis + Tia McLaurin may feature it on their next podcast episode.

Our 2026 Emerging Leaders cohort spent the weekend at Rocky Mount Mills, engaging in leadership development, career support and peer coaching workshops - alongside a healthy dose of firepit, tiny houses, and fun. The retreat is a key part of our Emerging Leaders program, creating an opportunity for everyone to connect and build deeper relationships across the cohort.

Huge thanks to the full Rocky Mount Mills team for hosting us on the 5th annual EL retreat! 👏

Goodmon Fellows, don’t give up the game in the comments!

We had so much fun diving into Team Leadership and Trust with our Transforming Leaders cohort this week - learning through experiential activities designed to provoke conversation.

Key takeaway?

Building trust at the organizational and team level is gnarly work. It requires system building and rituals, not reliance on interpersonal leadership.

In 2024, Matthew Donegan was a storyteller for Leadership Triangle’s first-ever storytelling event, The Flame: A Night of Community Leaders Shining Bright. As we prepare for the Flame this year, we sat down with Matt to talk about why he said yes to sharing his story on stage.

“I like to think I have a story to tell. After 35 years of advertising sales and marketing, I retired at 60 and started a new career as an actor. I had no previous experience. I call it my ‘Second Act’. I signed with a talent agency, and I’m having so much fun. On any given day, I get to play a Doctor, Lawyer, prisoner, and my personal favorite, a Baptist Minister!”

Matthew Donegan is the President of Donegan Media Services, a 2013 Transforming Leaders graduate, and a longtime Peer Coach for Leadership Triangle — and he holds a special distinction as one of the storytellers who helped launch The Flame back at its very first gathering.
