I always know when we are nearing the half way point of the year when we hold the Lunch and Learn Veterans Administration Seminar for our area veterans.

Today - The anniversary of D Day
The Sons of American Legion Post 242 held the first of 2 seminars this year - for our beloved vets at American Legion Post 242 Quakertown

Representatives from Congressman Fitzpatrick's office and the Bucks County Office of Veterans Affairs spoke to our Vets about best practices and ways to navigate the Veterans Administration

To see our vets get answers to complex problems and find out new information that can greatly improve their life quality - is an incredibly satisfying feeling.

We'll have the next one in Autumn ( likely November )

Stay tuned for details released right around Labor Day

I think of dad often- a hardworking and good man - great dad - part of the greatest generation - WW 2 veteran of the Army's 9th Infantry. Dad and his band of brothers helped destroy Hi**er and the 3rd Reich.

Dad spoke little to me about his service - but with other vets - he would open up - that bond among them is thicker than blood.

I think of this fact each time we organize lunch and learn and each time we bring vets together, their instant chemistry when they convene melts my heart.

Yes dad fought for our freedom and to annihilate hatred - Dad and his fellow soldiers also gave us the gift to take our freedom and use it to serve our communities. We can show the world America's greatest promise; that kindness, love and serving our fellow man is the most enduring American virtue.

Picture below is a photo card taken of dad and organized by the Red Cross / USO - that dad sent to his sister- my Aunt Viola. The patch signifies the US Army's 9th Infantry.

May we remember all who served - and honor their legacy in how we live right now.
