Upcoming Program: “Introduction to Christian Minimalism”
The Rev. Becca Ehrlich, author of Christian Minimalism, defines minimalism as “a focus on the aspects of life that matter most, and intentionally removing everything else.” That focus isn’t just a psychological or economic exercise; it’s a spiritual practice, she says.
You can learn more about a minimalist approach to life on Wednesday, April 29 at 7 pm, when Pastor Ehrlich joins Kairos Communities on Zoom for a presentation and discussion. You can receive the Zoom link by registering for this free program at https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/WIyIoO5aR3Kq9rygPq5UoA .
The heart of minimalism isn’t getting rid of or doing without; it’s aligning our energy, time and money with what we truly value. Jesus taught that “The place where your treasure is, is the place you’ll most want to be, and end up being.” (Luke 12:34, The Message)
“The Christian faith and minimalism go hand-in-hand. Jesus lived a simple, minimalist lifestyle, with few possessions to get in the way of His teaching, healing, and being present with his family and friends,” Pastor Ehrlich writes. In a society that continually tempts us to buy, Christians “are called to be counter-cultural and strive to be minimalists in a consumer society— because we know that our life’s meaning is not wrapped up in material things.”
Christian Minimalism: Simple Steps for Abundant Living is available from Amazon and many other booksellers. She also blogs at https://christianminimalism.com .
