We had a fun launch of Food4Kids on Wednesday!

F4K is a weekly free pop-up market open to all students and staff at Putney Central School. We distribute an assortment of kid-friendly, nutritious, and easy to prepare food options, including fresh produce, rotating meal ingredients, and snacks.

Food4Kids gives students the opportunity to choose food to bring home. This can be a fun learning experience for kids to practice “shopping” and can create a feeling of pride when they share with others. We also find that many kids will try new things when they’ve chosen it themselves.

Uniquely designed to reduce stigma to food access, the Food4Kids program encourages everyone to take part. This program also serves as a bridge, connecting families to the Putney Foodshelf where many more food options are available.

We love our partnership with Putney Central School and we're looking forward to the school year ahead!

We are seeking an AmeriCorps volunteer to join our team this fall!

The position involves serving customers, and supporting the preparations for Foodshelf Open Hours -- including food pickups, restocking, inventory, cleaning, and responding to shopper needs and donation opportunities. If there’s interest, potentially maintaining inventory and data on GoogleSheets. You will be supervised by Sheena, our Operations Manager, and work with a team of volunteers.

22 hours/week, running from September 1, 2026 to April 24, 2027. Requires a total service commitment of 600 hours.

Benefits Include:
- Living Allowance of $6,600.00; paid out biweekly ($412.50)
- Education Award of $3,130.16; earned at the end of term.

Summer Meals is coming to a close, and what an amazing summer it's been! We're sending thanks to the WSESU School Nutrition Team for feeding our kids all summer! For 9 straight weeks, around 2,000 kids were served weekly from the Brattleboro drive-thru location. Staff came from all surrounding towns to make this possible. Check out these photos to understand the scale of their production and appreciate the locally sourced food! 🫐🧀

Coming to the Putney Foodshelf this Friday ….188 bars of handcrafted tallow soap. A special thanks to River Bend Farm Market for the weekly donations of beef fat, without which the soap would not be possible, and to Kelli, the masterful soap maker.
