A pint-sized rescue, operated by a pint-sized human, helping pint-sized animals.

Mission Statement:
A Pint-Sized Rescue aims to aid any small exotic animal in need within the Palouse and surrounding areas, giving each a fighting chance through health, safety, love, compassion, commitment, and resource guidance.

Core Values:
A Pint-Sized Rescue is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of small exotic animals. We provide the most ethical care possible of our abilities to all animals within our rescue, to include proper housing, nutrition, and veterinary medicine. We deliver unconditional love, attention, and patience to every animal in our care no matter their history. We guarantee safe placement into future homes and a promise to every animal who comes through our rescue that they will always have a place here with us should those homes fail to work or should they be considered unsuitable for placement.

Individually, we might not have the power to change the whole world, but we have the power to change their world.

‼️Nayru is very ill‼️

And she needs your help, desperately.

Naryu began exhibiting signs and symptoms of a UTI around 9pm on Thursday, October 15th. By midnight, Nayru had begun passing more heavily blood-saturated urine, and even straight blood. She was obviously very unwell. By the following morning, not even twelve hours past the initial onset of visible symptoms, Nayru was in hypodermic shock (shock from losing too much blood) and was rushed to the vet as soon as they opened.

Nayru was immediately given lifesaving care to help stabilize her – fluids, oxygen, warming, and medications. She is in serious but stable condition at this time. Nayru is one of the rats from the Seaside neglect case. She is only 4.5 months old.

I hate to use this word, but we *desperately* need your support. We are already more than $1100 in the hole from recent veterinary emergencies. Nayru’s emergency care is going to cost us upwards of $800 on top of this.

Gillyweed is at the vet today after falling suddenly ill on Tuesday night. We are unsure of what is ailing her and need to do further tests to rule things out.

Gilly needs radiographs (x-ray imaging) which cost approximately $275. Our vet fund is currently in the negative by $680. Any amount of donation makes a huge difference for these little lives.

‼️Gillyweed is sick and needs your help‼️

Gillyweed started showing general malaise yesterday evening with no other obvious symptoms, aside from some porphyrin staining around her eyes and nose, and maybe just a spot on the tip of her urethra. She is exhausted and just wants to sleep (never a good sign). With no improvements seen today, we have her scheduled for an emergency exam tomorrow.

The emergency exam costs $155. We don’t know what additional tests they may want to run, so no idea of additional charges at this time. Her follow-up will be $75 (charged same day as her emergency exam – tomorrow). We are still in the negatives by over $650 with very few donations coming in. We know it’s hard times for many of us, but we really couldn’t do any of what we do for these little ones without the help from our beloved community.

Iggy is back at the vet for a recheck today. Blue tagged along to keep him company.

We are still greatly in the hole with veterinary bill debt – over $650. We have several upcoming appointments that will cost up to $515 total in addition to our current debt. Every donation makes a true difference for these little ones.

Our sweet little Din, from the Seaside rats, had a medical event over the weekend that has us worried about her heart. We will be scheduling her for an exam which will include radiographs of her chest.

This exam will cost approximately $430 ($155 exam fee + $275 thoracic radiographs fee). We are still quite deeply in the negatives and are grateful for any donations. When we say every penny counts, we really mean it.

Skunk Brewster, with her good friend Sedge for company, is at the vet today. Skunky, our little momma to eleven of the Seaside rat babies, developed a head tilt over the weekend.

Skunky’s appointment has so far cost $155. This doesn’t include any medications or her recheck fee of $75. We are still in the negatives from previous appointments and are working our way back out.

Sedge has big dreams.

As the Seaside rats and Park girls have been growing up, they’ve been outgrowing some of their favorite enrichment items. With so many little ones to care for, providing them access to certain enrichment items that allow them to expend energy are crucial to their wellbeing, both physically and mentally. These little ladies have outgrown their 12” Niteangel wheel and are dreaming of the 15” YKD wheel listed in the rescue’s “Enrichment Wishlist” found under the link in our bio.

Several of these little ladies, Peppercorn included, use the wheel for the majority of their awake time. They absolutely love running. The wheel is their passion.
