A Pint-Sized Rescue

A Pint-Sized Rescue A pint-sized rescue, operated by a pint-sized human, helping pint-sized animals.

Mission Statement:
A Pint-Sized Rescue aims to aid any small exotic animal in need within the Palouse and surrounding areas, giving each a fighting chance through health, safety, love, compassion, commitment, and resource guidance.

Core Values:
A Pint-Sized Rescue is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of small exotic animals. We provide the most ethical care possible of our ab

We deliver unconditional love, attention, and patience to every animal in our care no matter their history. We guarantee safe placement into future homes and a promise to every animal who comes through our rescue that they will always have a place here with us should those homes fail to work or should they be considered unsuitable for placement.

Individually, we might not have the power to change the whole world, but we have the power to change their world.

Easy as one, two, three, ADOPT ME! 🤩💜

Larkspur’s baby boys are looking for their forever home. Born on June 19th, these handsome lads have grown into strong and lovely little gentlemen.

Frodo is a bit shy at first, but warms up quickly and wants nothing more than to play with his humans.

Samwise is a sleek black Berkshire with the most precious dumbo ears and a little zipper mark right up his belly. He’s a real lover boy and adores be smothered in kisses and snuggles.

Merry is a very outgoing and tenacious little thing. He is determined to explore and will always be the first one out of the cage, if given the chance. He’s also easy to wind up and can really get going with the zoomies.

Pippin is a shy boy but such a little lover once you gain his trust. You can even see his quiet demeanor in his eyes in these pictures. That’s his true spirit and he’s likely going to grow into quite the snuggle bug.

As there are only four boys in this litter, they can either go in pairs or as all four. Or three boys from this litter and one boy from this litter PLUS the two boys from Meadowrue’s litter (they are all six cagemates).

If you are interested in adopting some of these boys or any of the many others we have available for adoption, please visit our website at www.apintsizedrescue.org and fill out the adoption application. We can promise you that you wouldn’t be sorry to have any of these munchkins join your family 🥰.

At the beginning of June, we coordinated a large intake of rats along with A Pint-Sized Rescue and Little Critter Crew. We removed a total of 60 juvenile to adult rats plus multiple litters. We completed quarantine, and the new intakes did not show signs of communicable illness. Unfortunately, despite an outward lack of symptoms, they had sialodacryoadenitis virus, commonly known as SDAV, which quickly spread to the other rats in the house and causing serious illness to many of our older and medically fragile animals. A test confirmed our suspicion, and Rat Way Sanctuary and A Pint-Sized Rescue immediately entered quarantine. Little Critter Crew was thankfully spared.

After many long, stressful, and sad weeks, we are now ready to start the PCR testing needed to lift quarantine. Testing is expensive, and because it's hard to prove a negative without testing every individual, we need to submit a few different samples covering a variety of rats before we are comfortable opening our doors once again. We submitted our first sample yesterday, and will follow with more as long as the results are all negative. The expenses will be shared between Rat Way and APSR, so donations to either org with the note "SDAV testing" are encouraged.

We can't wait to put this chapter behind us. Donation links can be found on our profiles.

🐀🩺 It’s time for a few of our munchkins to see the doctor.

Peppercorn needs a checkup to make sure she has recovered well from her respiratory infection. $75

Moomoo has a lump on his right shoulder that needs checked. He will possibly need surgery to remove the lump in the future. Initial exam: $89

Genji’s eyes have been a chronic pain for him. He had an in-depth eye exam at WSU a year ago, which unfortunately didn’t give us many answers. His eyes have been bothering him more again and it’s time to get another thorough examination of them. Initial exam: $89 + (this exam may cost more due to procedure requirements).

The munchkins would love your help covering these costs.
