The Society of Latino Engineers and Scientists - SOLES The Society of Latino Engineers and Scientists (S.O.L.E.S.) is an educational organization dedicated fields of study.

In doing so we hope to increase the number of Washington State University students in science and engineering careers. This will become a reality by providing resources applicable to each studen

t that allows them to pursue academic success, internships, research opportunities, etc. Our main objectives are:

- To foster a supportive community among Latino scientists and engineers at Washington State University

- To inform students of academic and professional opportunities such as internships, scholarships, and undergraduate research

- To establish relationships with professors, alumni and other professional and STEM related faculty

-To cultivate enthusiasm in STEM fields among K-12 students through outreach programs around Washington State in cities such as Sunnyside, Wenatchee, Grandview, and Prosser.

Every year, the Society Of Latinx Engineers and Scientist-Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SOLES-SHPE), organize the Latino Parent Conference (LPC). During this conference we provide valuable information about higher education to upcoming Latinx students/parents that are interested in STEM. Since many of these students come from an underprivileged background, we offer the conference at no cost for the attendees. For these reason, yearly, we organize a fundraiser to help cover the expenses of this conference. Once covering all the expenses, if there were to be any money left, we will help one SOLES member to attend the SHPE Regional Conference.

This year, SOLES is selling chocolate bags & a Valentine’s Day themed acrylic tag. Prices are as follow: one for $3.00 and 2 for $5.00. We will start tabling tomorrow. Locations and times of the fundraiser are in the flyer as well as a picture of the finishing product.
