Green Chile Bike Bank is putting out a call to the community for bicycle donations! We hate turning anyone away for lack of inventory, but we’re in need of small and average sized bicycles at this time and we need your help! If all you can do is share this post, know that we appreciate that as much as a donation. Thank you for your ongoing support - Pueblo’s caring community is what keeps us - and our clients - going.

Today is the start of the Colorado 150 Challenge. I did my part by getting my ass outta bed and riding 7 miles on the path and through the Aberdeen Neighborhood. It didn’t hurt a bit, yet, sore muscles start tomorrow.

Ever wonder what a typical night at the Green Chile Bike Bank looks like?

Once we open our doors at 6:30pm on Tuesdays, our core volunteer mechanics will bring in clients and their bicycles for repairs. Sometimes it will be a quick one, like changing out a flat tube. Sometimes it's a big repair that our clients have patiently been awaiting parts for, on the night we finally get them back on their bike. Most often, it rolls through the door as a small repair but, upon closer inspection, we find something unsafe that needs more attention, or find that the bike could run even better with a few small tweaks.

Some of our amazing volunteers are current or former clients of ours as well who know first hand how important this work is to the community. They not only help with repairs, but help us keep the shop clean and organized, and hand out snacks or drinks we might have that night.

On the nights we see new faces come in, or returning clients whose bikes have been destroyed or stolen, we will head into the back of the shop and look for something we might be able to fix up by the end of shop hours for that person. We use our collection of donated bikes and parts or parts taken from bicycles that could not be salvaged.

If you're wondering how to help the GCBB run smoothly for a night, consider visiting https://gcbbpueblo.org/our-needs/ for more information.

Opening the doors on Tuesdays means paying our rent. Our tools, from big like stands to small like screwdrivers, can wear out. Despite our big selection of parts, there will always be that one that we don't have and need to order. And even the most common inventory items of tires, tubes, reflectors, and seats need to be replenished. Plus, we can always use more bikes in decent condition. This is how your kindness helps us, and if you'd like to see it in action, come down to the shop on Tuesdays from 6:30-8:30pm!

We couldn’t do things like this without the generous donations we get from the community, as well as help from our volunteers. A very nice couple donated both of these bicycles to us. One of our volunteers put them together and did safety checks on them. We were happy to be able to help gift these to a couple of children who could really use an outlet to put a smile on their faces! ♥️ 🚲e

Thank you to Pueblo Green Chile Bike Bank for the donation of 2 new bikes. We appreciate you thinking about the kiddos we serve.

Restoring, repairing and recycling bikes for the Pueblo Community

09/10/2025

Cruisin' Pueblo would to thank everyone who came out to ride for the 2025 season, our Volunteers, supportive partners like Pueblo Bike Riders (PBR), and our awesome host Walter's Brewery & Taproom for helping to make it another fun Spring and Summer on bicycles!

It’s that time of year again - when the sun is setting earlier and the seasons will be changing before we know it. So, we are “officially” announcing that the Cruisin Pueblo rides are transitioning to our off season.

These Community rides are YOUR rides, so feel free to keep meeting at the same time and place if you’d like to, and decide as a group where you want to ride each week. In our off season, we especially encourage you to have lights on your bikes, wear a helmet and be prepared to be self sufficient.

Keep checking the PBR and Grassroots Gravel pages for their ongoing community rides and pop up events that occur year round!

Be safe out there and keep on rolling. See you again in May 2026! 🚲

Hello to you all from Tomas!

Tomas is our loyally dedicated volunteer/participant who dedicates his Tuesday shop nights to making coffee, hot chocolate, or lemonade for anyone who comes through the door, handing out snacks, spreading kindness, and tidying the place up. He is, without a doubt, a truly important part of our GCBB team and, after 13+ years of street living, he is excited to announce he has a new, safe home, outside of the harsh Pueblo elements!

Congratulations, Tomas! Stay cool 😎
