Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with José Hernández 🚀✨
Raised in a migrant farming family from Mexico, Hernández worked in the fields as a child and learned English at age 12 before earning degrees in electrical and computer engineering.

NASA selected him as an astronaut in 2004, and in 2009 he served as a mission specialist aboard Space Shuttle Discovery on STS-128, spending nearly 14 days in space and helping deliver supplies and science equipment to the International Space Station.
