From Rhode Island to Peru, the gospel is on the move!

14 people from Iglesia Cristiana Centrados en el Evangelio in Central Falls, Rhode Island are preparing for their first mission trip to Peru. Next February, they’ll travel to Lima to serve alongside Mosaico Church and share the gospel with children and families in the La Molina community.

Through Vacation Bible School, they’re expecting around 150 children to come hear about the hope of Jesus.

Would you join us in praying for this team? Pray for the children and families they’ll meet, for the gospel to take root, and for God to use this trip to make Jesus known in Lima.

The immigrant. The impoverished. The addicted. The unchurched. Four lives transformed by the gospel.

Over Labor Day weekend, Redemption Hill Community (one of our adopted churches in Lewiston, Maine) gathered for a lake baptism to celebrate four adults who publicly professed their faith in Christ.

The work can be slow and hard, but Jesus is being proclaimed, the gospel is bearing fruit, and God is bringing new life to overlooked communities in our inner cities!

How do you reach people who aren’t interested in church?

For Jhorman Rivera, that question became especially important as he began reaching out to the Hispanic community in downtown New England. As a Dominican, Jhorman thought about something familiar and meaningful to his culture: dominoes.

That means ongoing care for the team, fundraising support, leadership development, and help recruiting leaders when needed.

We do all this with the goal of seeing healthy churches that can faithfully serve their communities for the long haul.

The planting phase is where preparation turns into action. The planter and team begin building the church, both spiritually and practically.

Alongside NEU staff, they work to find a location, establish financial structures, raise start-up funds, build a website, and introduce the new church to the community.

This is a super exciting time and we’re grateful for the opportunity to expand the gospel community!

Every church planter comes with a different background, experience, and set of needs. Some may need seminary education or cultural training, while others already have years of ministry experience.

But every planter receives robust training in biblical church leadership and the unique challenges of pastoring in the context of inner-city poverty. Each planter also goes through an assessment before moving into the planting phase.

Church planting doesn’t happen overnight.

That's why here at NEU, we've built an intentional process made up of four phases: Explore. Prepare. Plant. Sustain.

We listen to communities to identify where churches are needed, equip pastors and teams, help bring new churches to life, and then stay alongside them for the long haul.

Because healthy churches aren’t just launched. They’re built to last.
