Positive Strides Therapeutic Riding Center Uses equine-assisted activities to build confidence, self-esteem and a sense of accomplishment for people with physical, cognitive and emotional needs.

For the past 40 years, Positive Strides has been providing therapeutic horseback riding to men, women and children of the Eastern Shore. We run sessions throughout the year. We offer therapeutic group riding sessions and one-on-one hippo therapy. We are certified by PATH, Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship, and our instructors and therapist are also certified by PATH.

The Star Democrat published a lovely article about us and our Jaime Lee Hutchison Memorial Horse Show! The photos they published are of our riders Jake and Dominic along with volunteer Dodi Sutton.

PRESTON — Positive Strides hosted its annual Jaime Lee Hutchison Spring Horse Show in June. The show is one of two yearly shows that is held in memory of Jaime Lee Hutchison, a former rider with Positive Strides and longtime student of Executive Director Kim Thomas.

The show highlighted all riders who participated in the 10-week spring riding session as they competed for medals. Their families enjoyed watching them negotiate obstacles and demonstrate their ability to ride and control their horses.
The riders were also awarded certificates for completion of the riding session.

The event, which included a silent auction and vendors, was made possible by sponsors: Choptank Equine, Nanny Trippe, Rich and Suzanne Hood, Doreen Patrick, Preston Cares Foundation, The Seip Family Foundation Limited, Adrianne Lasker, Shelly Beck, Kit Diamonte, Blough’s Seafood, Ann Speicher, Underground Unlimited, Bruce Harrington Construction, Memory Lane Farm Creations, Jeanie Tucker, Dorothea Sutton, and Eugene and Mary Ruth Higgs.

The fall show will be held on the weekend of Nov. 21 and 22. There is no admission fee, and everyone is encouraged to attend the show to help cheer on our riders while witnessing the magic bond between horse and rider.

Do you have a hobby or craft that's portable? Grab your knitting needles, sketchbook, puzzle, or whatever project has been calling your name, and come hang out with us at the farm!

Join fellow hobbyists for a laid-back evening surrounded by good company (and good horses 🐴). Sip a glass of w**e, nibble on some snacks, swap tips and stories, and get lost in your craft while the sun goes down over the farm. No pressure, no agenda — just a cozy, creative evening with people who get it.

Bring a friend, bring your favorite project, and come unwind with us. Pull up a chair, and let's get crafting!
