Everything we do through Purdue Extension has educational value—and, even better, what we learn can be put into practice in our everyday lives.

Steps to a Healthy You is a great opportunity to learn simple ways to embrace a healthier and more mindful eating pattern for yourself and your whole family.

And don’t forget—many of the things we learn through Extension programs can also become great learning opportunities and 4-H projects for our youth!

Join us for this upcoming class series at the West Jay Community Center and take a step toward healthier choices for your family.

Wednesdays – September 16, 23, 30 & October 7
12:30–2:30 PM
West Jay Community Center, Dunkirk
💲 $10 at the door

Space is limited, so register today by calling 260-726-4707.

🌿 A little learning can make a big difference in the choices we make every day!

YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO GIVE. A 4-H KID IS WAITING TO LEARN FROM YOU.

4-H is about so much more than projects and fair time. It’s about helping young people discover what they can do, build confidence, learn new skills, and grow into the people they’re capable of becoming.

And we need YOU to help make that happen.

You don’t have to be an expert. You don’t have to have all the answers. You just need to be willing to share your time, talents, knowledge, encouragement, or even a new idea.

There are many ways to get involved—from being a club leader or project volunteer to serving on a committee, helping with livestock, supporting the 4-H Council, or simply lending a hand when youth need it.

Your time today can help shape their tomorrow.

If you’ve ever thought, “I’d love to help, but I’m not sure where I fit,” we’d love to talk with you!

🌟 DO YOU HAVE A TALENT, HOBBY, OR SKILL YOU LOVE TO SHARE? 🌟

Jay County 4-H is looking for YOU! 💚

We are planning our upcoming 4-H workshops and would love to add some new and exciting opportunities for our 4-H members!

Our workshops are designed to give young people the opportunity to learn a new skill, try something hands-on, and create a project or gain skills they can use toward a 4-H project.

Last year, our members enjoyed workshops in:
🧶 Crochet
🎣 Sportfishing
🧵 Sewing
🎂 Cake Decorating
🌱 Soil & Water
🪵 Woodworking

Now we're looking for NEW talents and people willing to share what they know!

Maybe you have a hobby you love, a skill you've learned over the years, or a career that has given you knowledge you could pass along to young people.

We'd love to explore workshops involving things like:

📸 Photography
🎨 Painting & Art
🧵 Embroidery, Knitting or Quilting
👜 Leathercraft
💍 Jewelry Making
🕯️ Candle or Soap Making
🌸 Floral Design
🤖 Robotics & Technology
🖨️ 3-D Printing
🎬 Video Production
🐝 Beekeeping
🐦 Bird Watching & Nature
🦋 Pollinators & Gardening
🧭 Geocaching & Outdoor Skills
🔥 Camp Cooking
🚗 Basic Auto Care
🔧 Small Engines
🏡 Home Repair & Design
💰 Money Management & Entrepreneurship
…and SO much more!

You don't have to be a professional or an experienced teacher. Maybe you're simply really good at something and would enjoy showing a group of kids how to do it!

We're looking for people who can help answer the question:

👉 “What can I teach a young person to DO?”

It could be making something, creating something, learning a practical skill, exploring nature, using technology, or discovering a hobby they never knew they enjoyed.

The goal is simple: Learn a skill. Have fun. Make something. Build confidence. And maybe discover a new 4-H project along the way! 💚

If you have a talent, hobby, business, occupation, or skill that you think could make a great 4-H workshop, we'd love to hear from you!

📩 Send us a message or contact the Jay County Purdue Extension Office at 260-726-4707 to share your idea.

You never know what one new skill could inspire a young person to do! 🌟

🌧️4-H Families- Our Communities Need Us — Let’s Help Where We Can. 💚

With the recent flooding and devastation so close to home, many of us may have family, friends, neighbors, or community members who are being affected. During times like these, having access to reliable, research-based information can make a big difference.

We want to help connect our 4-H families and our community with resources that can help during this difficult time.

👉 Please follow the Purdue Extension East Central Region page for local Purdue Extension information, updates, resources, and helpful information for our communities. The East Central Region serves Blackford, Delaware, Henry, Jay, Randolph, and Wayne counties.

🚨 Another great resource:
Be sure to also check out the Indiana PREPared page for emergency preparedness, safety information, and helpful resources as our communities recover.

❤️ Let’s choose to help. Whether that means checking on a neighbor, helping a family member, sharing reliable information, or simply being there for someone who needs support, every little bit matters.

And remember: When you have tough questions, turn to Purdue Extension for research-based, reliable answers. Your local Purdue Extension office is here to help connect you with trusted information and resources.

Please share this post so these resources can reach the families and communities who may need them most. 💚
