Greater Portland NEMBA

Greater Portland NEMBA GP NEMBA is on a mission to make the Greater Portland area one of the greatest places in the country to ride a mountain bike. Join us!

The Greater Portland Chapter of the New England Mountain Bike Association (GP NEMBA) promotes mountain biking, builds and cares for public trails, and helps protect open space. Our goal is to work with local land owners and managers to ensure that off road riding opportunities are plentiful, well maintained, and sustainable. In addition to hosting regular trail building events we run a couple of s

ocials a year, random occasional events, and a ride series. If you're riding around here, you should be a member. Visit http://nemba.org/join to join.

Tonight (Monday 8/17)! Our August womens' ride is designed for women-identifying riders who bike singletrack trails regularly and are comfortable with moderate climbs, descents and some technical features like roots and rocks. Expect 5-7 miles at a moderate pace. Whether you're a newer or an experienced rider, there's something for everyone at this ride. Connect with fellow riders and explore the trails.

Join us on Blackstrap Trails for a fun and empowering women's mountain bike ride with GPNEMBA.

Lower Riptide is OPEN! hosted a spectacular Grand Opening for the new trail attended by more than 50 riders who came from as far away as Bangor. After 18 months of planning with our partners at , funding from Maine MTB Trail Fund, the Harkleroad and Lawless families and GPNEMBA members, it was such an experience to open this new trail to such an enthusiastic response. and our Portland Trail Crew volunteers have been working on this creation since April, and now Portland has its first MTB flow trail, rideable and rollable for almost any age and ability — including for adaptive riders — with gaps aplenty up to 20’ step down for those getting after it. This is how we realize the world class potential of Greater Portland. And to do it where most in Maine’s biggest city can get there car-free biking from their front door? Now that’s something special. Get out and enjoy lower Riptide, and look forward to the whole trail being completed mid-August. Remember to yield to slower users everywhere else in Fore River Sanctuary, and hit the link in our bio for the chance at a $1,000 gift card. Proceeds from the raffle will help us do the best work possible on Upper Riptide!
