Northeast Emergency Food Program A community of neighbors helping neighbors. NEFP provides fresh and nutritious groceries to more than

The Northeast Emergency Food Program (NEFP) meets the urgent food needs of our North and Northeast Portland neighbors (we also serve the entire Portland metro area), while working to develop community solutions to secure access to adequate, affordable, and healthy food. The small staff and large group of volunteers provide food, social service referrals, and other services to people in need. People coming to us represent a very diverse population many of whom are recent immigrants or refugees, and 33% of those we serve are under 20 years old.

Yesterday, along with three other pantries, we received 40,000 pounds of shelf-stable food from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This incredible donation of non-perishable food is a tremendous relief at a time when NEFP has faced difficulty sourcing a sufficient quantity and diversity of shelf-stable foods. Our pantry serves 1,000 unique families per week, and this infusion will help us meet their needs. NEFP and EMO are grateful to LDS for being our partner for many years and for supporting us, especially at moments like this when the need is so great. KGW produced a short video that we'll link to in the comments!

For over fifty years, CROP Hunger Walks have been raising money to end hunger locally and globally. No one in this world should be hungry. That's why the CROP Hunger Walk is more than just a gathering of people in a place. It's a movement, taking steps and raising funds together to provide meals for those in our own community who need them - and supporting programs that create greater food security in communities all around the world.

NEFP will be the local recipient of the Portland CROP Walk this year. It's not for two months, but we want to make sure that you have plenty of time put together a team! Links to sign up will be in the comments! Let's come together and make this the most successful CROP Hunger Walk Portland has ever seen!
