Based on the 1962 novel by Ken Kesey, the story is told from the perspective of a Native American man, Chief Bromden, from a defunct Columbia River tribe, who has been committed into a psychiatric hospital in Northern Oregon ruled by the tyrannical,
authoritarian, head nurse Ratched. After nearly a decade of complicity from Bromden and his fellow patients, a loud, abrasive, spark of rebellion enters the ward led on by a new admission, Randle Patrick McMurphy. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest challenges the strict systems and expectations imposed by society and asks the question, "What does it mean to be 'crazy' or 'normal' and who
defines these labels?"

The Barn Theatre and the cast and crew of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest would like to take this moment to recognize the efforts and hard work that went into building our set. Without Terry Brents we would not have the most sturdy, consistent, and clean looking Nurse's Station and a 7ft tall 9ft wide window looming over our all-white hospital.

"The way I saw it, Nurse Ratched wouldn't settle for anything less than perfect. Every measurement needed to be exact, no room for errors. I wanted it to look like Nurse Ratched made it herself."
- Terry Brents

We would like to thank Terry for his incredible work ethic, can-do attitude, and passion for our production of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

As we continue caring for and preserving our historic theatre, we just want to take a moment to say THANK YOU to our incredible donors, patrons, grant givers, volunteers, and supporters. ❤️

Because of your generosity and belief in this beloved community theatre, we’ve been able to give our building some much-needed TLC! If you missed it, here’s a quick recap of some of the amazing improvements made recently:

✨ Brand new roof
✨ Brand new plumbing
✨ Brand new lobby floor
✨ Brand new sound system & microphones
✨ And so much more!

We also want to give a very special shout out to our amazing volunteers. From construction projects and clean-up days to painting, organizing, fundraising, set building, ushering, tech work, costumes, concessions, and everything in between — this theatre continues to thrive because of the countless hours our volunteers pour into it. The Barn Theatre has always been built on community, and your hard work, dedication, and love for this place truly make all the difference. ❤️

Thank you for helping The Barn Theatre continue to thrive for another 78 years. We are also getting close to completing a special lobby wall dedicated to recognizing and thanking our wonderful donors.

We look forward to continuing the hard work of not only bringing you fabulous productions and “FUN”draisers, but also continuing to improve and preserve this historic building for generations to come.

🎭 Next items on our funding proposal:
• Redo our electrical system
• Upgrade our stage lighting
• Repair theatre ceiling lights and fans
• Provide cooling for our tech booth

Thank you for continuing to believe in community theatre, the arts, and the history of The Barn Theatre. We couldn’t do this without you.
