NO KILL RESCUE
KAR animals are kept in our care from intake until adoption. For the majority of our animals that time is spent within one home, where the animal can get accustomed to family life. HOUSING
The majority of KAR animals are placed with foster families. These families are KAR volunteers who generously open their homes to animals in need. The animals are provided with a caring, nurturing

atmosphere to facilitate their well-being. While in foster care, we gain an understanding of the animal's needs and their personality traits. Foster homes work with Adoption Counselors to match the animals with suitable permanent families. WEBSITE

Mark your calendars for September 29 from 5-8 PM Kalamazoo Animal Rescue’s Share Night Fundraiser with Culver’s, 7262 S. Westnedge Ave, Portage.

Join us for dinner or ice cream, or BOTH, and help raise funds for the cats and dogs at KAR. If the weather is nice, we may even have some adoptable animals for you to love on outside the restaurant. 🐾❤️

💎 Meet the Gem kittens 💎

Meet Diamond, Crystal, Emerald, Amethyst, Ruby and Turquoise. This 2.5 mo old sweet group of kittens are full of snuggles, loud purrs, toy stealing antics and amazing personalities!

The kittens have been raised with other cats, dogs and kids in a household with lots of activity that keeps them busy. Although their foster family is sad to see them go, they’re excited to see them start the adventures ahead with their forever families!

While Ruby and Turquoise would probably be fine adopted by themselves to the right home, the other 4 kittens would best be adopted in pairs or with another cat already in the home. Could one (or two) of these “gems” be the perfect fit for you?

KAR’s can/bottle fundraiser is one of our longest running fundraisers! If you already donate your returnables, thank you so much! If you haven’t donated before, here’s some info for ya -

♻️we collect year round at our shelter at 4669 Executive Dr, Portage
♻️we have multiple days you can drop off - Mondays and Fridays 11 am - 7 pm, Wednesdays 10 am - 4 pm and 5-6 pm, Saturdays 11 am - noon
♻️all your 10-cent returnables add up in a big way to pay for pet food, medical and veterinary care for our animals
♻️you avoid the sometimes sticky job of returning cans, and waiting in line at the bottle return
♻️you can feel good knowing that all your cans and bottles are being returned and recycled, while also helping support the animals!
♻️you’ve already paid the 10 cent deposit on your cans, so it’s an easy way to support the animals when direct cash donations may not fit your current finances.

I'm already litter box trained and spayed, so I'm ready to settle right into my forever home. I do best with another young cat or kitten to play with and grow alongside — having a feline buddy keeps me happy and entertained. Stop by during Open Office Hours tomorrow (Monday), 11 am–7 pm, to visit our adoptable cats and kittens, hand out some pets and scritches, and maybe meet your new best friend.
