We have some wonderful news - Zailey found her forever home. She was adopted by her wonderful fosters and she’s officially a member of the Chung family! She gets to spend her days in Port St Lucie getting all the love her deserves!

According to mom, Ami, Zailey is a great snuggler and wants to cuddle with every new person that enters the home. All friends are good friends.

She lovesssss treats (especially whipped cream) and she’s the most gentle treat-taker around. She’s also a big fan of squeaky toys and finds joy in playing fetch, followed by keep-away!

She’s garnered acceptance from the cats, who will share a nose boop with her, and even share their water. She also makes sure to clean all the crumbs from their dish if they leave any behind.

Zailey is everyone’s shadow, and always wants to enjoy the love and company of her family. We’re so happy for this perfect new chapter for Zailey and the Chung family.

Meet Stella Rose, affectionately known as Stella Bella Beags! 💕🐾

This sweet girl has come an incredibly long way in a short amount of time. When Stella first arrived at the Beagle Inn, she was extremely fearful and unsure of people. Today, she is making wonderful strides in learning that humans can be trusted. She now approaches her foster for pets and affection, and even more heartwarming—when the petting stops, Stella often stays close, asking for more. These moments are huge victories for a dog who has worked so hard to overcome her fears.

Stella is excellent with other dogs and does well with cats. She absolutely thrives with canine companionship and loves to play and cuddle with her dog friends. Food is another favorite thing, and we continue to build her confidence and trust through tasty snacks and positive experiences.

Since joining her foster home, Stella has experienced many firsts, including her recent bath, which she handled remarkably well. She continues to gain confidence every day.

Stella does have a history of being a flight risk. Recently, she spent two weeks on the run, and because of that experience, her future family must be committed to strict safety precautions. She currently wears a no-slip harness that will go home with her at adoption. While she has made tremendous progress, she will likely always need careful management to keep her safe.

Stella’s home must include:
🐶 At least 1–2 friendly, well-adjusted dogs
🏡 A securely fenced yard
💛 Patient, understanding adult humans who will let her continue progressing at her own pace

Every day, Stella shows us a little more of the wonderful dog she’s becoming. With the right family, continued patience, and canine role models by her side, Stella Bella Beags is sure to keep blossoming into an amazing companion.

Pluto Potato (also affectionately referred to as Spud) is on the hunt for his forever sofa and it very well could be yours.

Pluto is around 6 years old. He’s a basset hound mix weighing around 72lbs. He’s a big, sweet boy. He loves toys, belly rubs, naps, and soaking up love from his humans. We pulled him from a shelter in Jacksonville after we found out he was a stray that had been struck by a car and that his owners knew about it and had no intention of coming to get him.

He is up to date on vaccines, neutered, and heartworm negative. Pluto is potty trained and while he walks fine on a leash, he is a little lazy and not very motivated to go on walks. (he is half-basset hound after all)

Pluto is not food aggressive, but he’s food motivated. He is currently being fostered with two other dogs and gets along well with one, they even share food and water bowls with no issue. He’s also not toy aggressive, and shares nicely, unless it comes to treats. He’ll steal a treat without shame. 🤣 That said, he is very polite and gentle when it comes to taking a treat.

Pluto is crate trained, and often uses it for relaxation. He can be protective of his crate when he’s in there and his space should be respected by other dogs.

Pluto does well with people, he’s indifferent to cats, and gets along with most other dogs. We have noted that he is fine with the female basset mix in his foster home, but he’s not keen on the elderly blind dog in the home. He would be best with older kids. He’d also do well a home with a family who want to give him plenty of attention. It’s clear he’s a very loving dog and craves affection.

Meet Hank! He’s a 1 year old bloodhound/lab mix with the sweetest eyes and the goofiest face. He’s a Blab.

Hank was an owner relinquish that came from a shelter in north Florida. We don’t know much about him, but at the moment he’s with his foster family learning the ins and outs of living with a pack.

Hank lovesssss a stuffed toy. You’ll often see him in photos with a pink stuffed piggy in his mouth. After all, he’s just a baby.

Thank you to V for transporting and fostering this handsome boy. We can’t wait to watch him grow and learn while he’s with us.

These are some if the current hounds in our care right now. Some are Legacy Hounds, some are fosters, and some are being fostered-to-adopt.

Let’s all welcome a new basset to the AHRF family. His name is Otis and he arrived in the same transport as Higgins and Maudie. He’s a two year old boy with a dilute coat.

He’s not available yet. He is still on a medical hold, but he’s enjoying his time with his foster family.

Sometimes simplicity is key.

We can’t believe this, but Pluto Potato, also known as Spud, is still on the hunt for his forever family. If you remember, he was a stray for a couple of weeks in Jacksonville when he was hit by a car and taken to the local shelter. His family knew he was there and never came to claim him. Imagine the heartlessness it takes to do that to a dog like this, who just wants to chew on his bunny stuffy…

Say hello to Cashew! He’s a 6 month old red basset mix and he’s looking for his forever family. He’s fully of life and has plenty of wonderful puppy energy that he’s ready to pour into his humans.

He’s neutered and fully medically vetted. Right now he’s being fostered on a farm where he’s learning basic manners and crate training. He’s also working on socializing with other dogs and cats (although due to his hound nature he sometimes needs redirection). He’s working on potty training and not jumping up on people when he’s excited.

Cashew is extremely affectionate, loves people, and has high energy levels. He enjoys water, playing with toys, spending time with people. They enjoy water, toys, and human interaction, and would benefit from a home that understands the demands of a young puppy who’s still learning how to do life. He may do best in a home without cats, or very young children as he may be too hyper for them.

Cashew is a wonderful low-rider boy who deserves a wonderful home. If you think that he’s right for you, please fill out an adoption questionnaire below.

Great news! Brandy (formerly Betty) has been adopted!! As soon as she arrived in our rescue she was placed in a foster-to-adopt home, and they made it official. She was adopted by the Robert’s family and she’s living her very best life.

Miss Brandy has been settling in well and enjoying the love of a family. She’s happy, lovable, and embracing her new and wonderful life. It’s all we could hope for!
