sap Live Steamers, Inc. is a non profit organization. Rides are given outdoors on 7 1/2" gauge railroad on over 4,000 feet of track in the forest at South Kitsap Regional Park, and we run solely on a donation basis. It is only through the support of the public and members that this railroad will survive and continue to grow. Our purpose is to maintain and improve our railroad so that we may share this enjoyable experience with you. Our goal is to educate the public regarding trains and railroad safety as well. We love sharing our hobby with each and every person who comes out to ride with us!

๐ŸŽถ I get by with a little help from my friends ๐ŸŽถ

This hobby will keep you busy for sure! Each engine runs just as a full size locomotive would - which means they require maintenance, upkeep, troubleshooting, some positive words of encouragement, and lots of patience; especially the steam engines. And sometimes, even then things may not go as planned!

Here we have one of our members Shay Locomotive, towing a Pacific Locomotive that needed some extra love today. Itโ€™s all in a days work at the track!

Trains will be running from 10am-4pm!

Today weโ€™re celebrating the history, craftsmanship, and community that make railroading so special. Whether youโ€™ve been around trains your whole life or are discovering the hobby for the first time, weโ€™re grateful to share the experience with you.

Thank you to our members, volunteers, and everyone who comes out to support and ride with us. Hereโ€™s to keeping the love of trains rolling for generations to come.

From time to time folks ask us how our locomotives are powered. This season we'll try to post a few videos showing the internal workings of various types of locomotives. This first video is from one of our members who is refurbishing a battery powered SD9 locomotive who recently did some drive system tests on his chassis. There are many variants of battery powered locomotives. This one uses four 6 volt batteries with a tethered control of a single central electric motor that chain drives a driveline with gear boxes driving an axle on each truck with drive chains distributing power to the other axles on each truck.

Every year we look forward to partnering with our friends at Fathoms O' Fun by running our trains for their Easter Egg Hunt event. This last Saturday's event was a fantastic way to kick off our 2026 public run season!

Unfortunately the trees in the park are not to scale with our trains so this will take some effort to clear. Not to worry, our track crew will have this cleared and the track back up to s***f with plenty of time for our summer run season.

We've been working on the railroad to get it ready for the 2026 public run season. Be on the lookout for postings on upcoming events and opportunities to join our organization.
