Some great news! After a few very long days, the pool is ready to reopen. We were able to drain the pool the amount needed, refill the pool, and balance the chemicals. There were a few very frustrating snags along the way with the pump and tubing, but we were able to take care of those issues and get done what was needed to reopen. The pool will be open tomorrow on a normal schedule.
The pool company was not able to come out last Thursday as scheduled. They had a death within their company on Wednesday night, and decided to close for some much needed personal time. We support them fully in their decision, and respect the need to process the death of a loved member of their team. They are now scheduled to come out this week. I am hopeful that there won't be a need to close when they do the work. If we do need to close the pool, it would only be for a couple hours maximum, but I don't anticipate the need to close will happen.
Thank you for your understanding during the closure. We look forward to seeing you all back in the water.

The pool will be closed until further notice effective immediately. We anticipate reopening no later than Monday (hopefully sooner). There will be work done tomorrow in the pump room to include replacing the flow meter as well as replacing a defective vacuum gauge on the pump, and the pool would have to be closed during that time.
I have also shared regarding the calcium hardness levels in the past. When the pool was repaired, the new plaster ended up leaching calcium. This is a common occurrence and can happen for 12 to 18 months in some cases (as the plaster fully cures). The leaching of calcium from the plaster has caused the calcium hardness levels to be elevated (within safe range though). The last two months the levels have been checked, it has not risen but rather stayed the same. However, once there is calcium in the water, the only way to get rid of it is by draining the water and replacing it.
Rather than being closed multiple times we have decided to go ahead and begin draining the pool (about 60%) and then refill. This will drop those calcium levels and hopefully they won't rise again. Nothing is ever added to the pool that would cause elevated calcium levels, so we are confident this will resolve that issue. I have spoken with the pool company, and they are also confident this is the best option. they also don't anticipate further issues.
I will send an email update as soon as the pool is ready to reopen. I anticipate that being sometime this weekend. I can assure you I will be working as diligently as possible to get the pool reopen as quickly as possible.
Have a good week. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

Exciting things are happening at Parkwood Community Club!! Due to significant damage the floors received during a rental back in October, the hall has been closed to rentals since then. It has been a huge hit to the club. After diligently working with insurance, we finally have movement and the repairs are underway. We have our big rummage sale planned for May 7th, 8th, and 9th. The hall will then be open for rental use beginning May 15th. Its been a long haul, but it is going to be beautiful once the work is done. Enjoy some pictures of the progress. There is a sneak peak of what the floors will look like when completed. If you are interested in renting the hall, feel free to message here on fb. You can also go to the club's website which is pccportorchard.org and click on hall rental. We cant wait to share the finals results once the works is done.

Do you have items you can donate? Ready for some spring cleaning? Parkwood Community Club would love to take items off your hands as we prepare for our upcoming rummage sale. We can accept donations drop offs at the club as well as a location out off Sidney near the little airport. We are also more than happy to pick up donations if that would be easier. Please message us anytime or email the address on the flyer to arrange a donation drop off or pick up.
We are working diligently to reopen our rental hall after it sustained some serious damage back in October. The hall has been a source for many weddings, birthday parties, memorial services, retirement parties, family gatherings and so much more over the past 60 years. It has been heartbreaking having it closed. We are very close to beginning the repairs and are hopeful we will be able to open in time for the rummage sale. Thankfully insurance is helping with the cost, but we are responsible for the rest. We are excited to have the hall back open and serving our community as soon as possible.
