Start making plans for this 4th of July as we celebrate our country's 250th birthday!

Celebrate 4th of July and America 250 with the City of Port Orange!
The 4th of July Spectacular is one of Port Orange's favorite traditions: with inflatables, food trucks, games, and of course - Fireworks!
This year we also celebrate America 250 with some extra fun!
This year's event will feature:
-A Drone Show along with the Fireworks
-A Classic Car Show
-Music from local favorites Are Friends Electric & The Navy Band Southeast's Pride
-A Pie Baking Competition
-A Watermelon Eating Competition
AND MORE!

Step back in time with us.

This photo shows the former Port Orange House, with guests relaxing on the veranda and looking out at what was then the new wooden bridge. Over the years, the landmark was known by several names, including the Riverview Hotel, Alligator Inn, Riverview Inn, and Riverview Apartments. It once stood on the northwest corner of Halifax Drive and Dunlawton Avenue, overlooking the river.

This weekend, and into Monday, will bring below-freezing temperatures to our area and single-digit wind chills. As Floridians, whether you're a native or a transplant, we're not used to this type of weather. So here are some tips to get you, and your property prepared.

DO
Bring plants and pets inside.
Cover outdoor vegetation.
Cover exposed pipes. This includes well pipes and small drip irrigation systems.
Turn off automatic sprinkler timers.
Consider letting inside faucets drip during freezing temperatures.
Stay inside or dress in layers if you must go outside.
Keep your pool running.
Keep garage doors down to conserve heat.
Keep a 3-foot buffer around any space heater.
Drive safely & slowly in case of road ice

DON'T
Don't water during the next few days. Plants will freeze and sidewalks/driveways may ice up.
Don't use plastic to cover outdoor plants. Use cloth, burlap. or old towels or sheets instead.
Don't leave space heaters unattended or on throughout the night.
