Statement in response to the President's FY'26 Discretionary Budget Request



The National Commodity Supplemental Food Program Association (NCSFPA) is deeply concerned by the proposal to eliminate the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) in the President’s FY 2026 Discretionary Budget Request, released on Friday, May 2nd.



Currently, CSFP provides critical nutrition to 707,000 of the nation's most vulnerable seniors each month, spanning all 50 states, Puerto Rico, the District of Columbia, and seven Indian Tribal Organizations. The program delivers nutritious, domestically grown USDA foods to seniors over the age of 60, helping them maintain their health while stretching limited incomes.



CSFP's success is built on strong local partnerships and the unwavering commitment of thousands of volunteers who pack, distribute, and often deliver these food boxes directly to seniors in their communities. These dedicated individuals are the backbone of the program, ensuring that food reaches those who need it most, with dignity and care.



Eliminating CSFP would take away a lifeline for nearly three-quarters of a million seniors who depend on this program every month.



NCSFPA calls on Congress to reject this harmful proposal and restore full funding for CSFP, ensuring that these 707,000 seniors continue to receive the nutrition and support they desperately need.
